You build things to make things that will let you build more things so you can make stuff to build things as you slowly terraform the planet and bugs try to destroy things you made. Watch as windmills are also watermills, behold rockets that you can stand under and take no damage from, get the ore! make things with the ore. Make a robot. Watch as people sit in midair, watch as people eat nothing! O_o; forget how to make the thing that you need to make for the thing!!! wish you had built the thing over there, fall as you remove the room! Game is still in the works, dev is very open to ideas/feedback and active :) game has a leader board for speed runners who care about that sort of thing.

Crude to say the least. Price does reflect this but should really be Early access. Feels like more of a proof of concept at this time.

This is a 6/10 game right now. I'm upvoting it as I think the dev can improve on it, if he is willing to change things. After playing the game for 3 hours, I’d say I have mixed feelings. It’s not bad, just ultimately very conventional in its interactions—simplistic even. It lacks that subtle je ne sais quoi. The case of obtaining water is typical: digging for ice (which actually respawns very quickly, but a drill gives you more than you’ll ever need, so the game becomes too easy as well), building a water maker—literally, making water—and that’s it, done. Water becomes a non-issue 30 minutes into the game. Same for oxygen, same for food. Planet Crafter is a bit more challenging in that regard. The game lacks a certain variability, difficulty, subtlety. It's simplistic in its approach of too many game loops. The other major point is base construction. And I won’t dwell on the lack of building rotation or standardized sizes—these are known issues. No, the real problem, I think—and it will be hard for the dev to change—is that far too many functions require their own dedicated room, all of which look similar: corridor-like, basic in shape (with the exception of the farm, which is made of curved glass—much more pleasant). As a result, you inevitably end up creating a labyrinthine, snaking base where you’re running from corridor to corridor to start metal block production, fuel, check your rocket, etc. You get lost in your own base. Nearly all other games in the genre allow you to build empty rooms and place machines or installations inside them. So I think this is the main issue, beyond the too simplistic game loops: the design choice to tie too many functions to specific rooms. I also know the game has a very low budget, but those black square rooms… honestly, no, they’re just too cheap-looking. I’d advise the dev to take the basic farm model, make variants of it—bigger, longer, rounder, however he likes—and allow players to install whatever machines they want in them (refineries, etc.).

Honestly, it feels really lacking. The building is frustrating. The unlocking technology is menu hell. The 'automation' causes you to run around a LOT. It just needs so much cleaning up.

Man, I want to love this game, but the base building is absolutely awful. As other reviews have noted, the habitat pieces aren't the same size (or a neat real number factor of each other) and so don't line up. You also for some reason can't connect two existing pieces with the connection pieces. And if you want to re-arrange something? God help you, because you can't disconnect non-end pieces, even if there is another access, Then you have to go through hell to empty everything out and find temporary storage due to weight limits. It's bad enough that I've just restarted multiple times to try and build a better layout the first time around.
