After 225 hours... The Final Campaing. Grand Campaing 1945, West. From Bastogne, crushing the American resistance in the city to Berlin in a final attempt to stop the Soviets from entering the city and from there... To Britain. You might be saying "wtf are you talking about? I thought this was supposed to be the Western Front? Why are we fighting Soviets in Berlin? More importantly BRITAIN?! An Operation Sea Lion in 45??" yes. Yes to all of it. In the usual Panzer Corps style if you do really well in your missions and get decisive victories you don't have to finish the war in a historical way. You can turn the tide. In the other campaings it didn't feel too weird but in here it does feel a lot more out of placed compared to the rest. I think the situation changes from "oh god lets try a final, desperate attack under snow and clouds and awful weather cuz the American air force is scary" to "oh my god we're invading Britain now!" compared to the other DLCs I just think that change happens a bit suddenly which is why it feels really out of place.
+As usual in the Grand Campaings as the years go on there are more enemies, stronger enemies and bigger maps. All of those goodies are still here.
+The start of the campaing is very fun. You get to use a ton of V1s and V2s to destroy whatever you want, the game limits the amount of experience your units get so you better have some good experienced units. Attacking through snow and bad weather to not be struck by American planes is very enjoyable.
+/- So if you do the non-historical path and try to win the war you'll get to face off against our old friend... The Soviets. After all sure you're winning on the West and pushing the Allies back but what about the East? I'm glad it wasn't entirely forgotten about and you do have to punch the Soviets in their nose before you can go back to making your plans for the invasion of Britain. Here's the sad part you've played this exact mission before in Grand Campaing East. As if thats not enough it still feels incredibly out of place.
-I think this is the only campaing where I'd recommend you to not get all decisive victories. If you do you can go and do Sea Lion in 1945 and thats cool and all but compared to the other DLC it just feels really out of place. Basically all Panzer Corps campaings have these alternative "better" endings if you get decisive victories like in Afrika Korps you can either not get decisive victories, get minor victories and end the African front historically, in Tunis or you can get decisive victories and at the end of the campaing find yourself invading India. The issue is that in almost every other campaing you've either been on the offensive almost all the time or at least you're moving forwards for most of the campaings. In here, in the Western front ever since the first DLC we've been falling back. Falling out of Sicily, out of Italy, out of France and all the way into the Benelux region and now all of a sudden in the span of like 5-6 missions we go from retreating for the last 3 campaings into invading Britain. It feels incredibly out of place. Cuz of that I think this is the only campaing where I recommend going the historical path instead of the "I wanna win the war" path.
Its not a bad DLC by any means, I enjoyed my time with it and I love Panzer Corps in general. Its just one of the, if not the only DLC where I think the historical path might be more fun then the non-historical one. Still I had my fun with it and after this many hours... I've done all the campaings. The war is finally over.
