This is still one of the nicest and funniest point-and-click games I have ever played. I recommend it after playing at least the first one just for the story line.

This game is just as good as the first one. So fun. So many cheeky funny references and meta jokes. A real joy.

Love. This. Shit! This game is so hilariously funny! Also the story is great and the grafics are fantastic. You have to look seriously tho, not only to find every object you need, but also to find each and every little homage hidden in the backgrounds, words and actions. Play it! Enjoy it! Its worth it. <3

Note: This is the sequel to The Book of Unwritten Tales. It is highly recommended to play that game first to fully understand the story in this one. It's not necessary to play The Critter Chronicles in terms of story. Recommended for: If you liked the first Book of Unwritten Tales and/or The Critter Chronicles then you will almost certainly enjoy this game. It features a similar story with familiar characters and the same style of humor. A major improvement is the graphics, which look much better compared to the previous games. Fortunately there are no time-based puzzles this time which annoyed me greatly in the first game. If you’ve never played the previous titles, The Book of Unwritten Tales 2 is a traditional point'n click fantasy adventure game. The majority of the gameplay involves using the correct item in the correct place and at the right time, like most games in the genre. It has a nice story, interesting characters and good voice acting. The game is full of humor and a large chunk of it consists of pop culture references, mostly from the ’80s and ’90s so you might not get all the jokes depending on your age or experience. Still, I would recommend this game to any fan of the point'n click adventure genre. I would like to give a warning. The ending of the game is pretty disappointing as a lot of plot points remain unresolved. It feels like the developers were planning a third game to wrap up the story, but unfortunately it’s been 10 years since this one came out and there’s been no sign of a third game in the making. I would still recommend giving the game a try but it’s something to keep in mind. My experience: I had a good time overall playing The Book of Unwritten Tales 2, though somewhat less than with the previous one. I felt that the puzzles were a bit more illogical compared to the first game and on a few occasions I was completely stuck. I also encountered some technical bugs which were minor but still annoying. Still, I enjoyed the story with its nice characters and humor. The major letdown for me is of course the ending which I already mentioned above. I think this is a real shame because The Book of Unwritten Tales games are good adventure titles and deserve a proper conclusion. It seems like the developers are still around so there might be a little hope left, although it's not exactly clear to me who currently holds the rights to the games. I do find it pretty ironic that the third game is actually the true “unwritten” tale… Technical: I ran into numerous small bugs while playing. The most common issue was that the character voice audio volume would suddenly become very low. I also had character models clipping through objects or getting stuck in animation loops for a while. Still, for the most part the game ran fine and I experienced no major crashes or game breaking bugs. (Win10,7800X3D,RX7800XT) Personal Rating: 3/5
