A short but very fun experience. I love how much personality is given the gal through her voice lines and just general animations. Showing cultists the finger after using the knife is just incredibly satisfying. The final boss has some annoying attack patterns, but the game is still very enjoyable.

Compared to the other games in the Waifus with Raifus bundle, Cult vs Gal is a light snack you play between the heavier games. It couldn't care less about exploration or complicated mechanics: you have 5 guns and a machete which grants you a moment of invincibility every time you decapitate an enemy with it, so levels are built around you running around as a head-chopping maniac and clearing them as fast as possible. Its highest difficulty may be a bit too unforgiving for a truly fast playstyle if you're a pleb like me, and I've yet to really delve into the arena mode, but even with those minor niggles I'd say it's worthwhile if you approach it on its own terms and don't expect the more complicated levels of classic FPSes.

Yet another anime-chick-in-a-Wolfenstein type game, and not a particularly mind-blowing one. The gameplay is monotonous, the level design is bland and the translation to English is woefully incomplete (including most of the UI and settings). Not worth it even for 5 bucks.

Honestly it’s meh.
I just bought it because it was apparently similar to another game I’ve played.
The issue that I have here is mainly a skill issue.. as well as there isn’t a whole lot of mechanics like jumping or actually having to look up or down to shoot at the right spot (if that makes sense).
Thankfully it wasn’t too expensive.

This game is actually super dope! and for $5 (or $3.75 like i paid on sale) this is an easy recommend. that said there are a few changes i personally would love that i feel would make the gameplay a bit more engaging and rewarding.
firstly the bosses so far have been very one dimensional and offer little more flavor than the standard mobs. i wish they had a bit more going on.
secondly the melee which currently grants a momentary invincibility which i never really notice and often forget to use entirely. i feel that it would be much more useful if there was a bit longer of a delay on the melee and instead of the invincibility if refilled your weapon magazines, i feel like that would drive me to use it more as on the harder difficulties i spend a good amount of time backing away to cover so i can reload. if the melee solved that than it would speed up the flow of combat and make it more fluid imo.
beyond that though the game is sick. super cute and entertaining with plenty of style and a price that's impossible to argue with. the detail of seeing you character and what she is doing in the corner is a nice touch.

A really short but fun game that reminds me a lot of classic Doom in its gameplay. The inclusion of the machete (and the middle fingers you flash when you kill an enemy with it) really encourages playing quickly and aggressively.
There are 4 difficulty levels. I played the highest (the 4th) difficulty for about half the game, but it was [i]really[/i] hard, and I had to play carefully and defensively. IMO the 2nd difficulty is best for just having fun shooting and slashing enemies. So I'd recommend playing that difficulty unless you want to punish yourself. Higher difficulty seems to mean faster enemies, faster projectiles, and more damage received.

I've hit a point where I really enjoy simple and refreshing games like this.
No bullshit. No upgrade system, no glory kills or fighting game inputs.
Just me, my gun and a lot of enemies.
Couldn't ask for more for five bucks.
I've played a few retro Wolfenstein clones like this and I am glad to say this one is also the least buggy, no glitchy checkpoints or weird hitbox jank. Its simple. But solid.
The story is a little confusing, I blame some of that on the rough translation. But its also really refreshing to play a protagonist who's just having fun. Not in a cool unflappable badass way, but tittering with glee and cheering as she blows someone into bits with a rocket launcher.
Awesome game honestly, why haven't you bought it yet?
