Even though i haven't played "The Other Side" for that long as of writing this review, i do have north of 2500hrs combined in other various games within this "genre", and i can safely say that this title is well worth to pick up if you are a fan of these sorts of games. "The Other Side" pays mind to quite a bit of ~quality of life~ stuff that some of the other titles simply wont (despite fanbases asking for it since forever), for example the ability to turn equipment on and have them active on your "belt" as you're walking around as opposed to having to put things stationary on the ground somewhere or walk around with it in hand. Another big thing is that you're not locked out of ~quality of life~ features on equipment from a "rank"-standpoint, you wont need to spend hours upon hours with deliberately poorly designed equipment just to unlock something that does the exact same thing but with more ~quality of life~ to it.
As an example; The thermometer keeps track of lows and Geiger counter keeps track of highs when active on your belt
The whole ~journal system/UI~ is taking place within a smartphone which can be used in conjunction with other equipment as well, which is also a very nice touch.
Said smartphone also doubles as a makeshift flashlight and a photocamera
All in all a solid title, especially at this pricepoint. I'm excited to keep on playing and also for what's in store down the line!

This is by far better than phasmo. Yeah its still in early access and it doesn't have too much to do or places to visit but the sounds and environment alone will make you change your undies. Even though i know then sounds are coming still get me every time...

The game is great. It is a great cross between Phasmophobia and Demonologist.

I’ve only played the tutorial for this game as of now, but the horror elements seem to strike a nice balance between Phas’ somewhat dynamic but somewhat impersonal interactions and Demonologist’s borderline theatrical events. I also appreciate having to measure the intensity of evidence and the process of actually scanning the maligned spiritual foe. I hope the devs add in a mode that combines cleansing with identifying ghosts. Identification seems to easy and removes the niche of evidence intensities, so combining the two makes sense. Overall, I am excited to see how this game evolves and hope I can get my friends into it.

This game is incredible. It has everything I wanted from Phasmophobia and more. The scares are well-earned and well-timed - extremely tailored and situational. Intelligent ghosts. 10/10 would nearly pee myself again and again

Absolutely terrifying. Excited to see how this game grows in the future. The entities are more interactive and less second guessing when you collect clues as opposed to other games. Definately recommend this game to people who like horror/ghost hunting. Cleansing is a nice alternative to only identifying the entities.

This is the ghost game we have been waiting for. At first I was iffy with another ghost game but so glad I took the plunge. This game offers unique ghost interactions, great audio and jumpscares. A unique twist with death in game. Character customization, base customization and so much more. I will recommended this game to all of my friends who are looking for something new!

I loooove The Other Side already! I'm so excited to see how this game grows and develops. It's a ton of fun to play alone and with friends, reminds me of Phasmo but with it's own new twists that make this a super refreshing ghost hunting game to play. The maps are a lot of fun and look visually appealing, the game modes are a ton of fun and helps to keep things fresh. You can change settings or modes for a casual play or go for something more of a challenge. There are small details like the car drive to the maps, being able to customize my character, the way it's set up when you arrive at a location, the way you carry your items and being able to see your friend's items on them, using your phone in so many ways also that makes me feel like a real ghost investigator! It just feels more interactive to me than some of the other games where it's just get in and get out, there is something about the way this game is set up that just makes me feel more immersed in what I'm doing especially with my friends. Something I'd like to see is achievements added so I have more goals to work towards along with the ones that are in the game, maybe though some diversity on the objectives because three rounds in a row I got the exact same three objectives so I feel a little more diversity would be nice. So far though the game overall is amazing and has so much potential. If you love games like Phasmo, there is a very high chance that you're also going to enjoy this game and you can change the control settings to your liking to make it easy to get comfortable with all the new features with this game so starting it after playing other games like it isn't a massive learning curve.

Here is my non-bias review of The Other Side as a ghost-hunting game player: Gameplay: There are two core game modes so far, and roughly five difficulty levels that i can remember (I'm currently on Novice). The two modes are: - Cleanse: You gather evidence with each tool you have, then analyze and “code” it into an Affixer, which allows you to cleanse the entity from its favorite room. You'll also need to find a bound object that’s spiritually connected to the ghost and confront it. * Note, this part I'm still figuring out, but it's a cool detail.* - Identify: This mode is closer to traditional ghost-hunting gameplay—gather three key pieces of evidence and narrow down the type of entity you’re dealing with. There's a third mode, Escape the Night, on the way—more info coming from the T.O.S. team. The roadmap includes features inspired by what players have loved in other ghost-hunting games. It doesn’t feel like they’re copying—more like learning from the genre and building something new. Incorporating specific ghost behaviors would be an exciting layer to the experience, especially in Identify mode. Now, Cleanse is what truly makes this game shine. I described it on stream as feeling like a Mission Impossible mission—I was decoding something urgent and dangerous, battling evil with tools and logic. It scratched a part of my brain I didn’t know needed scratching. The scares hit in unexpected and fresh ways that really stood out, even compared to more established titles. For that reason, I’m giving it a solid 8.5 to 8.9 out of 10. And trust me—I still screamed, yelled, panicked. But this was refreshing. It’s a new take on the genre that feels promising and genuinely fun. And it really feels like a ghost-hunting simulator with a twist. As someone who has actually gone ghost hunting in real life, I can say it captures that feel in a creative way. Character Creator: I’d give it a 1 out of 10 for now—not because it isn’t trying, but because it’s clearly in the early stages. It has potential, and I’m hopeful it’ll continue to grow alongside the rest of the game. Right now, the options are limited to just two presets, and while it's a start, I’d love to see more flexibility in future updates. When studios can implement color sliders for clothing, I believe they can do the same for skin tones—it would be a meaningful and appreciated addition for representation. That said, I want to give the devs the benefit of the doubt here. It’s still early access, and their willingness to include a character creator at all—when some games in this genre don’t—is a good sign they’re thinking ahead. Accessibility: Lastly, I have to commend the devs for the accessibility tools already implemented. They’ve gone beyond what many games in this space even try, and that’s huge. For that reason alone, this category gets a 6 or 7 out of 10 with plenty of room to grow. I’ll be keeping an eye on how it evolves. I’m hooked. I’ll definitely be playing more and I do recommend this game.
