Absolute gem of a game! I love that the local multiplayer system allows any number of people to play, regardless of available input devices. Also love the style and music - they make the game feel really polished and pleasant. At this price, it's like I'm ripping YOU off :)

Solar Storm is a great game to play solo (with bots) or with friends. If you loved games like Worms Armageddon, you'll definitely enjoy this one. You control an artillery unit, equipped with devastating weapons, and the goal is to eliminate all opponents. The arenas are procedurally generated and can be destroyed by weapons or deadly disasters. Gaming sessions are fully customizable, from bot difficulty and biome types to wind settings and other options. With its unique art style, sound effects, and music, Solar Storm offers a really fun experience perfect for quick matches or extended gaming sessions.

I played Scorched Earth A LOT as a kid. And this game is like a new modern take on that game! The graphics are very cool, the music is great and the weapons really BLOW STUFF UP!!

I only played against the A.I. and haven't yet had a chance to play against friends, but I've already got quite a few things to say about Solar Storm. First and foremost, I love how Solar Storm isn't trying to be Worms. It's doing something similar yet different, something that's more reminiscent of the super old school predecessor to Worms: Gorilla. I remember playing Gorilla when I was seven years old. It was a really basic MS-DOS game with similar rules. You pick a muzzle velocity and angle, and then try to hit the other Gorilla. You can't move the gorillas, but not being able to move them directly makes for a different kind of strategy. While Worms ultimately devolves into who can do the most gnarly ninja rope gymnastics, Solar Storm, due to your inability to move your tank directly, makes you focus on aiming the tank. Aiming and firepower are more precise than in Worms, so you are much less likely to screw up a shot by doing something stupid like holding down the space bar too long. Worms is all about mayhem, comedy, and chaos unfolding on the map. It's like a mixed drink. Solar Storm is more about aiming, precision, and focus. It's like a dark beer. Solar Storm brings a number of innovations to the table as well. Terrain is segmented into soft dirt and bedrock. Most projectiles break through soft dirt, but don't destroy bedrock. Again, this makes the game more about aiming and precision. Since you can't destroy the bedrock, there is always something to aim around. That's not the case with Worms, where pretty much everything is destructible and you don't always have to make these hard decisions about how to aim. Broadly speaking, Worms gives you a tool for everything. That design decision means you can often circumvent the core mechanic of aiming the gun in favor of somewhat cheesy things like teleporting or ninja roping over to your opponent for an easy kill. Because Solar Storm is more reserved in its weapon selection and strategies, you have to get good at aiming. That's what sets it apart. Although I haven't yet played this with my friends, I suspect they will enjoy a round of Solar Storm more than our rounds of Worms, if only for the fact that I can no longer ninja rope all around the map and baseball bat them into the water. Did I also mention that the game has beautiful graphics and a pleasant soundtrack that fits what you're doing? Would you also believe that it was basically made by one guy who did who his own engine and everything basically from scratch? Pretty amazing!
