I cannot recommend this game, it feels like an unfortunate miss and a waste of money.
It's a shame because the aesthetic is great, the characters the enemies and the weapons look great and combat has great feedback but I cannot understand why the dev didn't opt to make this game a traditional linear boom-shoot instead.
There are no synergies for making this fun as a survivor style game, getting multiple weapons makes no sense, you only use one at a time and they are all super slow, passives and spells kind of work off one another but they are still incredibly underwhelming and most of them are borderline useless.
It has a solid foundation for a different type of game tho, It needs a lot of work before it becomes something worth your while.

Demo is the best part of this game, don't trust the demo
Past a few starting lvls, the exp flow is VERY SLOW
Enemies turn into bullet sponges really quickly
Unless you get some lucky workbench upgrades early, you might as well restart
Weapon design is boring af. Imagine being able to come up with any weapon in you fantasy game, and all you get is a pistol, and smg, a shotgun, a minigun and a generic ass wand... you get the idea
And you don't even make them do anything remotely interesting smh
Same with your permanent upgrades, it's just a bunch of some basic small incremental stat boosts, as generic and bland as you can get
Also, rerolls, banishes, revives ARE CONSUMABLE and cost A LOT to re-buy
It should be considered a warcrime to do this, stay away from this dumpster fire
A shame though, because visuals and core gameplay are really fun

Fun little time waster, I knew 1 min into the demo that I'll be getting the full game (though good thing the demo lets you pick Jared to start with, the double barrel is by far the most enjoyable starting weapon - so far).
100% will Bloodshed again

This ain't it.
I really like the vibe of the game, the feel, the level design and characters are all great, but everything else in the design of this game is wrong. Let's go over it.
1) Aim and autoshoot. This game has autoshooting, which means when your reticle is over an enemy you shoot. The guns of the game are not designed around this. For example, the rocket launcher has aoe damage, so shooting it at the floor in front of enemies would be great so you can catch them in the aoe, but autoshoot doesn't go off unless the reticle is aimed at the enemy, but that's the worst way to use to weapon. Also, the projectile has travel time, so you should aim where enemies are going, but that doesn't work. Even ignoring the rocket launcher, it just feels like all the weapons should fire when anywhere near the center of the player’s focus, not a tiny reticle. This is just bad design, and thoughtless.
2) Progression and purchases. Progression is small in this game, unlocking more stuff in the game actually makes runs more difficult because it's harder to max out an upgrade line. "What about re-rolls?" you ask. Well, you have to buy them and once they are used they are gone, meaning you need to buy re-reolls, banishes, and revive PER use. You don't get them back when you start a new run. "Oh, then they must cost very little," you say. No, they are incredibly expensive and therefore useless. "Well, surely you get a lot of currency per round so that it makes sense to use them." No, I'm so sorry, you get very little currency in this game and progress through upgrades is painfully slow and daunting.
3) Not enough guns or creativity in guns. There's no electric gun, there's no flamethrower, there's just very standard guns. I think I can list them all from memory. Desert eagle, duel pistol, Uzi, double barrel shotgun, pump shotgun, ak-47, minigun, rocket launcher, wand, kunai, and a bunch of melee weapons that are useless unless you get lucky and they restore health on kill. Speaking of which, the health on kill just makes you auto-win any run. Like, no thought was put into balance.

i dunno... weapon synergy is non existent so being able to equip multiple weapons is useless... atleast give them ammo or smthn idk

The initial demo was so promising. Unfortunately the devs rushed this game out and it is just not worth it. There's barely any levels and the story is unfinished. This should not have launched into 1.0 so early when there is still so much missing. The demo is essentially 50% of the game, because they haven't added much more. Tremendously disappointing

I recommend this game with a list of caveats, but the most significant of which is that despite the devs saying otherwise, this game is not content complete. You can complete the entirety of its content very quickly- so quickly, in fact, that you'll have beaten everything before unlocking everything. Despite being the ideal game for it, Bloodshed does NOT have an endless mode, and each "run" takes up to a half hour at most, and only because most levels are timer-based.
The game claims to be a boomer shooter roguelike.
It is neither of those things. Unless you're willing to stretch the definition like taffy.
Each "run" is a singular level, and beaten quite easily. It has meta-progression, which is a mark against being a roguelike as a purist, though if you're more for roguelites you probably appreciate that. It has the aesthetics of a boomer shooter, but with nearly none of the genre's hallmarks. If you want to know what this game is, think of it as "Serious Sam, with upgrades that last for 1 level".
I think the balance can be a little scuffed, not that enemies are every really that hard, more that amongst the different playable characters, some are clearly not as good as others in their starting options. Your starter will get the job done pretty reliably. The girl with the katana can be very powerful, but it really comes down to whether or not you get any form of health recovery. Though that kind of goes for everyone. If you get the ability that lets you heal in combat, you can't really lose unless you get shockingly careless. If you get a weapon upgrade that gives it lifesteal, you can nearly stand still and beat the level as long as you keep swinging.
Music is fine, sounds can be a mixed bag, (the sword has such an awful clanging sound no matter what you hit), the aesthetics are nice but not very memorable, and overall, the game feels 66% done. Not that I've found any bugs or anything, it's quite well polished, it's just that I'm left wanting more but given nothing to satisfy that itch besides more of the same.
Still, I do recommend it, it's a blast for sure, but it's the candle that burns twice as bright.

It has all the ingredients but the sauce isn't there. These survivor style games need all your weapons/abilities to merge and synthesis with each other, but Bloodshed doesn't do that with its weapons. There is no benefit of swapping, they do not add on to each other, and having more is a handicap versus a benefit. I didn't feel like I was making a build, I was just using a singular gun which should be a sin in boomer shooters.
Unless progression is revamped, this is an unfortunate skip.

Tried the demo and it was surprisingly good. Ended up grabbing the full game, and it’s definitely a cool experience. Tougher than it looks, but in a good way. For the price, it delivers more fun than expected. It’s simple, challenging, and you can unlock different characters, some are witty and sarcastic, which I really liked. The old school upgrade and skill system is a nice touch too. So yeah, I’d say it’s worth your time and your munneh.

Good, I guess.
Pros:
-Looks good, feels good
-Lots of maps
-well crafted. interesting set pieces
-custom game mode is a'ight
Cons:
-Bizarre design decisions across the board
-Hold 3-4 weapons but you'd never want more than two, and usually you're best off with just one.
-Synergies don't really exist, so just pick the objectively best skill each upgrade.
-No real builds, again just pick the objectively best skill
-Many characters, but there is little difference in their abilities and game play, just pick the objectively best one (see a theme here?)
-more than half the of the interesting skills are locked into late game well after you've beat the game and lost interest (bizarre)
-They mislead the player to thinking there is a 3rd act, but it's just a custom game mode
-The meta progression is pretty 'meh' and the costs of upgrades vary wildly, if you're a thinky-boy you will identify the best meta upgrades and obtain them quickly and leave the garbage overpriced stuff
-CONSUMABLE 'holds' & 'locks', meaning you have to buy new one EACH RUN. One of them costs TEN TIMES as much as the other. again fucking bizarre. Want to play with strategy? it will cost you an entire run worth gems to do so, so naturally just don't play strategically because the dev is incentivising you not to.
-needs more types of enemies
-healing is RNG, sometimes you simply won't have a way to heal and will VERY likely just die through attrition damage late into the game, incredibly frustrating
-readability could be improved late into matches when lots of doods are on screen
-the voice acting, immediately turned that shit off
Typical game play loop:
1)Pick the objectively best starter weapon, I mean character.
2)RNG upgrades, hope for starter weapon upgrades, then hope for the objectively best skills, then pray to your chosen deity for the passive health regen skill before things get too hairy. Last resort, pick the healing spell if you cant get the regen, cry
3)run around the map looking for your weapon upgrade workbench, it doesn't cost anything to upgrade but needs to be a certain level. why cant it just upgrade automatically on level since it is free anyways? who knows. Anyways, find that workbench and again pray to your chosen deity for a life steal related upgrade (did you remember to pick the objectively best character at the start? cuz if you didn't your weapon cant roll life steal)
4)OK you're ~8minutes in, you've either hit life gen/steal and 4+levels on your starter weapon; Good job, you need to finish the remaining 22 minutes by face tanking every mob in the game until you win. Otherwise, bad job idiot, you can now begin a slow painful death as you desperately plead with god for any kind of healing.
I'm gonna be honest, I don't really want to give a positive review. I am going to though as there is a lot of potential in this game, the bones are there. The game looks and feels great. But it really isn't going to tickle that 'survivors' style game play that you're probably looking for. It's a cheap, shallow imitation right now simply because of poor balance and poor design decisions. I hope a patch comes along a cleans this all up.
$5 sale on launch, if it were any higher I would not recommend
