Unfortunately the game continues to crash after certain points. No matter what I do from turning the HD textures off to lowering the screen resolution. The game crashes. Other than the constant crashes the gameplay is amazing, the game is also well written. Until the community can come up with a mod or something to fix the constant crashes I will sadly have to not recommend the game for those who want to play it.

Great DLC. But I wish they gave the option of playing Alucard in the main game (ie Costume for Dracula but using Alucard's weapons and talents). Playing Alucard was fun, I especially like it when you build his sword up at full power with all the moves learned you can crack out really spectacular combos. If I had to make any complaint at all I just wish the DLC was longer. You find all the items and power up the character to its fullest would take less then 3 hours to play. But was it worth the price of admission? HELL YES.

First off the game has a very well told story and its honestly interesting to see Alucard's side of the story and how he was able to get the Lieutenant's armor and how the void sword and chaos claws got where they were. HOWEVER. gameplay wise this was just an absolute mess. My entire run time was spent running away from enemies rather than fighting them, level design is too obtuse and I spent easily a third of my play through just trying to figure out how to progress. Alucard himself feels incredibly weak, a far cry from how he felt in Mirror of Fate, considering we had the Glaecius and Ignacius blades from the get go. Enemies were just straight up unfair, wait to bullet spongey, and could very, very easily stunlock you and push you into a corner to just eat away at your health. The puzzles were also just far too simplistic which left me wanting. I genuinely was so close to not continuing, during the key gathering segment in the BEGINNING portion of the game because the keykeepers just took too long to put down and they stunlocked me so so often and trapped me in corners. Not to mention the blocking system was easily broken by the enemies as well. It has a great story but I cannot in good conscious recommend it, its just not fun to play at all
Meh
I bought this on sale just wanting to see how Alucard's combat was, and honestly - It was okay. Mercury Steam clearly spent some time crafting a unique fighting style for Alucard, and they gave him some unique abilities too, but it's not enough to recommend the game or justify the original price tag.
The Good
Alucard is fun to play as. There is only one skill tree, and you gain experience way faster, which is nice. I actually wish the base game only had one skill tree, since they were all the same anyway, but I digress.
The Bad
Pretty much everything else. Despite being fun to play as, Alucard really only has one weapon that you augment with blue or red magic. It feels like a regression to the original Lords of Shadow. Alucard also has unique non-combat abilities: -Swarm of bats - lets you teleport to grapple points. -Spirit wolf - lets you jump greater distances and phase through obstacles, but leaves Alucard vulnerable while active. -Rewind - lets you temporarily restore broken parts of the environment While these are interesting, and are admittedly used very well as means to solve puzzles and environmental challenges, they are incredibly overemphasized. I cannot stress enough that the fun part of this game, and of this genre, is the combat. And my main complaint with this DLC is that combat is de-emphasized. In my first hour of the DLC, I think I fought 9 enemies. The rest of the time was spent navigating the environment and solving puzzles. This is a problem. If I was looking for a puzzle game, I would have bought a puzzle game. Puzzles are fine, don't get me wrong, I expect them. But I don't expect them to be 80-90% of the game. It needs to be balanced. My last gripe is that the overall story of Lords of Shadow is immediately made worse in the opening cut scene of this DLC. The story premise of this DLC undercuts the premise and themes of Lords of Shadow 2. Way to go Mercury Steam, you lowered the bar, again, and tripped over yourselves, again.
Overall
Too many puzzles, not enough combat. Alucard is fun, but not fun enough to justify spending full price on this. In fact, I'd just recommend skipping it altogether. Don't be like me and let your morbid curiosity goad you into purchasing this.

Love the main game. Hate alucard. He's hard to play with and nowhere as good or as fun to play with as dracula. Prince of darkness mode is terrible... enemies are hard to hit and alucard does no damage even to basic enemies. Too much of a hit and evade play style that takes the fun away from it. as for the story itself, it's okay. Nothing major. most of it is using your skills to solve puzzles and fight copy and paste enemies. The annoying enemies with shields you have to use dark power first every time in order to have a chance at winning. And alucard in the air is trash. His air combos are limited and he knocks enemies away from you, canceling any chance for air juggling. You have to be up close all the time to get damage which makes aggressive game play null and void. get it... void. It's a pretty cheap dlc so I guess it's worth it if you want to play with alucard and learn a bit of side story. But I much rather prefer a game mode where you could just fight with alucard against multiple enemies like the batman arkham series did with their character dlc. Imo, the alucard experience is just a weaker, shorter range, less versatile version of dracula. Nothing really stand outish about him other than his looks and skills(which are useless in combat unlike draculas). If you don't care about looks and puzzles then pass on this.

I RECOMMEND CASTLEVANIA - LORDS OF SHADOW 2 - REVELATIONS !! Castlevania Lords Of Shadow 2 - Revelations DLC has a very solid expansion - new characters, new vampire powers, new combat abilities, new areas & puzzles. Also has non-combat abilities - bats that allow you to teleport to grab points on walls from where you're standing & a spirit wolf form that allows you to jump further to reach unreachable spots. Playing as Alucard is awesome, he is a stronger superior warrior & has different powers then Dracula. Alucard uses a sword as a wepon known as The Crissaegrim. Dracula uses the Gandolfi as a weapon known as the Whip of Alchemy. Action-Adventure, Hack-Slash, Gothic, Metroidvania, Dark-Gore, Epic-Music, Atmospheric, Story-Rich

Where do I begin with this beauty? The story completes itself perfectly. I love how Alucard is portrayed with grace, hope and faith not only in God but also in his father's recovery. The Forbidden Wing was especially unique, and unexpected. It all clicked together. If you have played mirror of fate, it is cool how here you get to explore more areas of the Castle... I had a blast playing this three times, and will continue to play even after accomplishing all of the achievements. Trevor Belmont Alucard has a place in my heart, he's a true hero! And his design is stunning, without a doubt. He is far more skilled than he was in mirror of fate, and there is so much lore to discover throughout the game and dlc.
Some more of Alucard
Buy it as a bundle with Lords of Shadow 2 during a sale Pros

New vampiric powers
Different combos a la Alucard
New locations
Cons

Knowing what happened on Alucard's side doesn't really add anything to the story. Everything important was already explained during the main game

Very Brief, but a diversion
This DLC re-introduces Alucard into the series just before the start of LoS2. 99% of this DLC takes place in the castle segments, which introduce new places within the castle that are familiar to those who have completed the LoS2 story. The puzzle sections in this rely upon learning the new skills that are specific to Alucard and actually do require the player to pay attention, which provides satisfaction upon completion. However, most of the puzzles seem to be used as buffer space to slow player progression and artificially extend the content's playtime. In short, the fact that this DLC is short, doesn't justify to me buying it full price. Wait for it to go on sale and pick it up.
