Absolutely adore this game! The idea of being able to play any sound file on your system, and the game making a rhythm level based on different detection methods, it's great! Music-Based Procedural Generation, as it's called. Sure, it may not be perfect, but giving the game itself a little bit of time to work its magic and allow you to play your own music? Not comparable to the effort people put into music charts for other games, but still! Game-play wise, there's a learning curse, you have to adjust to the way the map layout is, the different zones of the level increasing or decreasing the speed, and if you would like to enjoy the game as it is meant to be, Intense difficulty is for you! You use the WASD keys for colored notes, and the arrow keys for directional inputs! The color changing of Melody herself, and the escape part [It's in the name of the game, silly. You're escaping the level with music!] with the directional inputs and dodging obstacles, it's fun to watch! My only problem is that the inputs, especially the directional/arrows, are sometimes buggy and/or the hit-box is too small, the same can be said for the color circles [WASD inputs] but not as much as the arrows. Even with calibration, but hey, practice makes perfect, it would be useful to have some sort of tip or setting to show you how big the hit-boxes are. The scenery is simple yet gorgeous, same for the visualizers for the rhythm, and there's even rain! Maybe in the future, the game gets an update to be able to have more interactions with other players, maybe a list of who has played a specific song and also a leaderboard [to make used of he score system], tracked by title [similarities in name can be voted/fixed by the players themselves, say, a voting system to confirm that the name matches the specific song from x or y artist], and the ability edit or customize more within the background/level! If you'd like to play a rhythm game that is unique, and where you can play any music and/or sound file on your device, this is the game for you! A relaxing way to enjoy your music and have some fun at the same time! 9/10, maybe the Escape was the Melody we made along the way :D

I really wanted to like Melody’s Escape. The concept is solid: run, jump, and dodge to the beat of your own music. Sounds like a blast, but it's just... meh. The visuals are a major letdown. It’s all basic silhouettes and flashing lights — fine in theory, but there’s nothing striking or stylish enough to pull me in. The whole thing feels flat and outdated. Definitely not compelling enough to make me want to sink time into memorizing patterns or letting muscle memory do its thing. Yeah, you can use your own music. No progression, no real depth — just song after song of the same shallow run. Bottom line: Melody’s Escape isn’t awful, but it's not worth your time or money. There are more engaging rhythm games out there with better visuals, more variety, and actual replay value. Skip this one.
