Better than Skull and Bones. Except for some minor issues with AI voices randomly changing or becoming much quieter mid sentence and escort caravan quests sometimes getting stuck, I've not seen any major issues. In addition the multiplier aspect is fking over low Tier players each time a high Tier player comes close. The spawning of NPCs is based upon your tier so, suddenly getting hunted by T4 and T3 boats while you are in T1 is basically guaranteed death sentence. Can be very frustrating in the middle of missions, especially long escorts.

Okay, after 102 hours in, I'm good to give an opinion, this is a good game, sure the servers are a tiny bit unstable, and there is the occasional Cheater (Saw only in Caravan PvP Event), which is far few in between... its all fun, got a lot of options in ship design, could use more enemy ship variety of course... But anyway I highly recommend this game, especially if your the type who loves the sea, and Boats. The Ground combat could use some work, its... lacking feel to it, it may not be a focus, but could use more polish to it.

i would totally recommend this game. its honestly a pretty fresh take on the whole "water world" aesthetic. i like it a lot. the visuals are also really nice to look at. mind you, the voice acting is a bit crude, but i don't mind it that much, cause it results in some really funny, like, "wait, what?" moments. for instance, there is a quest in the game where you have to go find this girl's father who went missing. the father in question being a shark hunter who set out to avenge his son who had been eaten by a massive man eating shark, "witch you will later kill for him completing part of the mission". but when you talk to him, it goes from this really nice african amarican voice to, like, this realy crude AI british voice. it was so funny cause it was like "wait, did his voice just change?". I think I know why they did this though. they're probably working on those voice lines and needed a place holder or something like that. over all, great game. totally worth the price. and the best part, NO PAY TO WIN BULLSHIT! Its great!

Needs time, and most of all, thought put into it. So much either missing, or implemented in a strange and tedious way. Major plus though: No microtransactions (yet)

Having a lot of fun playing this game. Being an MMO, I had my reservations having been tricked to many time in the past with bad and broken early access games. Not with this one, the MMO aspect is there but the other aspects like boat building, base building and the really well done combat/sailing systems make a very nice change to other "classic" MMO's. No net issues to speak off and friendly players who always signal each other with a horn blast :) Maybe, just maybe this time a new MMO is actually going to be something worth your time.

idk what it is tbh, good game. Edit- If devs are active under here, i have a full discord of people who would love to see player to player trading posts, even if restricted to higher tiers.

Game was fun in the beginning, but once you get to level 24 you wont be able to get to level 27 so that you can get any tier 5 ships. You'll have done every mission in the game by that point. The XP grind past that point isn't fun and would take so much time it isn't worth doing. Plus even if you did get a tier 5 ship, what the point? There isn't anything to do.

Not a great game, especially not a great paid game. I gave it 6 hours of trail, and while I did enjoy it - I felt like a spent too much time just sailing towards another fetch quest. It doesn't feel like an MMO, and all the dialog options are basically "click e to say exactly this." The characters are minimal,m your interaction with others or even ability to explore is rather low, and it feels like the game (post-tuturorial) just wants to send you on an endless stream of quests with some vague lure of "after a few more the base will be set up" I am six hours in mate - when does the fun start? My final straw was learning that a key gameplay loop was acquiring ships through boarding them and not making from the ground up. And realizing that there were basic quality of life (auto go forward?) issues unaddresed. It just...isn't fun. Maybe in a bit i'll come back to it if it is still alive.

I am kicking myself for not playing this earlier. What a enjoyable game. Its a mix between Atlas and Crossout . I absoloutley love t. The ship building and combat is very enjoyable. The pace is slow but that's ok. This is a long term game .

The game an appealing premise, unfortunately, its execution is full of tedious mechanics, lackluster storytelling, and baffling design choices. One of the biggest frustrations with Age of Water is the sheer amount of unnecessary back-and-forth sailing between the same two points for the same mission. It feels like an artificial way to pad gameplay time rather than offering genuinely engaging content. There’s a fine line between creating an immersive world and wasting the player’s time—this game leans heavily into the latter. The game does an abysmal job of explaining its HUD elements. There’s no built-in tutorial or guide to decipher what each part of the interface means, leaving players to either experiment blindly or scour forums for answers. The lack of accessible explanations extends to part stats as well—you have to build an item (which consumes a ridiculous amount of resources), install it on your ship, and then drive out into open waters just to hover over its icon and see its stats. This is an inexcusable design flaw that turns what should be simple decision-making into an annoying trial-and-error process. The writing is borderline embarrassing. It feels as if it was written by someone terrified of including anything even remotely engaging or controversial. The result? A dull, flavorless narrative that does nothing to enhance the experience. Good storytelling is supposed to make a game’s world feel alive—this one feels lifeless and uninspired. Another major pain point is the inability to preview how an item will fit on your ship. Instead, you’re forced to use a clunky build mode window where you can maybe see the width and length squares, and then you have to count them manually. A simple preview function would solve this problem, but instead, the game leaves players frustrated, hoping they didn’t just waste valuable resources on a part that won’t fit. Basic inventory management is a mess. You can’t break down items directly from your warehouse. Instead, you need to manually load them onto your ship, set sail and then break them down, adding another unnecessary layer of tedium. And if you’re hoping to compare stats between two items of the same type? Good luck. The game doesn’t offer an easy way to do this, forcing players to constantly switch between menus just to see minor differences. A fake multiplayer experience. Yes, technically you can party or group up with your friends. But you can't do missions together (unless you start the same mission at the same time with someone. You can't trade items with one another. You're just in a lobby and can see them sail around. There is no aspect whatsoever of a co-op experience. This completely defeats the purpose of multiplayer functionality and makes the feature feel hollow and pointless. Missions frequently get bugged, preventing players from turning them in and leaving them completely stuck. This can be a game-breaking issue that halts progress entirely. However, the developers are actively working on fixing these problems. The online servers are terrible, with constant latency issues. I frequently get ping warnings despite having a 1GB Up/Down connection. The connection problems are so severe that it feels like the servers must be located in Antarctica. This makes the online experience even more frustrating and unreliable. This Game Was Not Ready to Leave Early Access. It feels like it wasn’t properly playtested, as the simplest oversights—many of which greatly hinder the overall experience—should have been caught and fixed before release. The game is riddled with issues that make it feel unfinished and frustrating rather than polished and enjoyable. The game has potential, but it’s currently bogged down by frustrating mechanics, poor UI design, and uninspired writing. The tedious sailing, lack of useful in-game information, and infuriating inventory management make it a chore to play rather than an adventure to enjoy. Unless major improvements are made, this is one is best avoided.
