I played the demo last year - playing as the Jack, the Hydra kinda sorta definitely pissed me off. I been thinking about this game and saw it on sale. The update news about being able to actually play as the bosses is pretty awesome, so I bought it. I beat the Hydra as Jack, demolished the bosses as King and Queen, skipped Joker and playing Warrior...and I matched up against the Vampire Monarch, Not only does this Vampire Monarch spawn mobs (that take 3 slots of dice to defeat), but it also increases the HP damage her slots need to take when she does her 10 damage (2 of her slots got to 99 before I got finish with the first). Not only that, but she resists the warrior's skill AND the monk's skill to debuff her attack by 2. All on Normal Difficulty by the way. If you are going to get this game - you'll need to study to the codex, be very aggressive with artifact/item re-rolling, and assume none of the hero skills will work on bosses (even though King and Queen's abilities did). I'll get better with the game but the rules when it comes to bosses are leaving me salty.

Got this because it was deck verified, and even has a full control scheme by the devs implemented already. But wow is this game absolutely fucking UNPLAYABLE with a controller. Not only do the listed controls barely function as intended, but in less than an hour of playtime I already noticed that certain buttons/inputs will simply decide they don't want to work anymore despite just working a second ago. Most notably is any sort of menu navigation, where sometimes only the D-pad works, and other times only the joystick. In a game? Better get used to either the jankiest deck builder you've ever played on controller, or just give up and remap controls to be M+K. And, as if the already awful controls weren't bad enough, as far as I can tell, there's no pause menu in game, so you physically cannot change settings or even pause and exit once you start. I did a single run, got a gamebreaking combo right off rip, and generally enjoyed the actual way the game plays, but at current I absolutely cannot recommend this to anyone not on a M+K setup and will be putting this game on an indefinite hiatus until the devs figure out a control scheme that actually functions as intended for controllers.

Very luck dependent rouguelike, and there isn't much that can be done to challenge that luck. Some characters feel significantly underpowered and there aren't enough places to synergize a fun build. It's so close to being dicey dungeons on crack but its missing that kick.

This game is not great unless you are a gambler The game is a rogue like that uses a dice mechanic which I completely understand will make the game focus on luck. However, in a game that focuses luck I also expect some strategy or skill to be involved but their isn't. The game is horribly balanced and tries to compensate it with adding trinket slots to certain characters (but not every character has a trinket slot) which is their way of balancing characters that is horrible. Why do I need to use a horribly balanced bad character just to use a trinket? Also enemy spawns are hard to deal with since in the first rounds you might get enemies that will immediately deal damage to you even when you defeat them (boar) which makes it hard to go against enemies later in with less health since the only way to heal is if you have an ability, got lucky with an ally, or get even luckier with red dices but they also have to have high rolls. It is also very hard to earn money in the game and when you do the items that you buy aren't even that game changing, some of them are completely useless, but their are those occasional items that work perfectly with your character until you run into a mini boss that completely obliterates your character because your character is the worse for that certain boss. This is mostly a rant and if you like Heavily (more like only) luck based combat then this is a game for you.

Ran into multiple run ending bugs in the 5 hours I have played where the hero skill flat out did not/refuse to activate (yet used the charge, dice), super unfortunate

I always raise an eyebrow when someone with tons of hours in a game leaves a negative review. Can a game you spent days playing be that bad? Well, here's mine. There are two problems with this game. The first is that while winning coming down to a coin flip isn't an uncommon flaw, a good game will leave you feeling that better decisions would avoid that outcome. Here there is an excessive amount of randomness that render good decision making irrelevant. Secondly, Diceomancer effectively does everything this game is trying to do, but better. That kind of comparison is often unfair, but both games start with the same concept such t's impossible not to notice how much better Diiceomancers execution is when playing D&F. With all that said the game is well made and I've certainly played worse. I'd sum it up that Diceomancer is like a nice meal at a sit down restaurant, while D&F is drive-thru fast food.

It's fun! But holy mary why is it so difficult??? After seeing the difficulty and the EXTREME RNG element, I thought there would be some unlockable prestige to help my future runs. nope. Nothing. This game is infuriating and even when I think I have a really good set up it falls apart. All of this applies to the EASY MODE by the way. The normal difficulty didn't give me anything on any of the characters you can play as, so I moved to easy mode, which proved JUST as difficult. The runs have been going so terribly that it makes me think, "Am *I* the one missing something??" TLDR; Fun, but incredibly infuriating.

Surprisingly fun! 6 hours have passed in a blink of an eye. When I purchased the game I was kinda sceptical about it. However, I got it at 50% so I would not have complained anyway. The game is not about deep strategy. If you want that - there are plenty of other games. This game is about chance, thrill and dice. It perfectly delivers all of that. There will be runs when you will die no matter what. For me it is the part of the fun. Such is life. The cool moments come when just the right dices drop and you vanquish a powerful monster. The game might seen minimalistic at first, but it is pleasant. Also, there is so much stuff and content here. The achievements are crazy. I just wanna say if you are a gambler such as myself, you will love the game. What I did not like at first was too many mouse moves as we have to put dices where we want them manually. No QoL features to facilitate that. Surprisingly, in the end I got used to it and it does not bother me. To sum up. This game is perfect if you want to chill out. I turn up some heavy metal, play the game and at the same time I can think about life. There is no pressure anyway. I just hope the fifth promised will be delievered. It would be shame if the Devs dont fulfill their promise. Great game.

I wish we could put a neutral review. The game itself is nice and refreshing. The idea is simple but effective. The big downside is the RNG. RNG in a dice game is normal! Yes, I agree. But it also has to be somehow fair at some point otherwise it is just infinite reloading runs. The game works as it pull random enemies from a pool, sometimes you can just say bye bye to your run despite having a strategically planned one. If every enemies were only an value that you have to obtain, it would be fine. But having some "exact" dice enemies is making this game ridiculously hard even in lower difficulties. I lost a run with my hero at 42 hp and companion at nearly 20 because I got 1 imp elite with 10 damage, 2 godling with 7 damage each and a lone knight dealing 12. The godling requires 3 dice. exact 6 exact 3 and 12 "normal" So only for them to disappears at that stage of the game, I need 4 perfect dice + lone knight having also 2 exact dice. While this is part of the game, some runs feel REALLY easy and some are just straight impossible. This should be addressed or at least having a way for the player to play around this bad RNG, like a reroll dice that you can stock or something

while i thought the game was fun for a bit, i wouldn't recommend it to other people. it is just too poorly balanced and does not provide enough strategic depth to compensate for its randomness. some characters feel too stomp-heavy, but the majority of them feel underpowered. i reached my tipping point with the craftsman. it is nearly impossible to get to the later stages of the game on normal and up without good luck, and the game allows you no item slots for him. it is weird that the game decides for you how many item slots each character is allowed to have. it should be up to me how i want to support a character's playstyle. i get that it's to help with balance, but to me it's just showcasing the flaws in your gameplay by artificially handicapping heroes. it also seems weird that the game expects you to tank so many hits in the first few rounds (the boar is almost always in the first rounds, which deals unavoidable damage unless your character has a shield), even if you are not playing a character expected to heal, and if you take too many hits in the first rounds, you might as well start over. additionally, there are so few times where i actually completed the gold dice slots. there is little to no incentive to do so because, often, you have to choose whether that blue dice will go to folding a card, or tanking its damage just to fill one of many slots. and gold means nothing if you cannot live to use it. plus, so many of the items are basically useless unless you purchase them with other items or use them with a specific companion, which are all random. making gold hard to collect but easy to waste makes strategic gameplay difficult to pay off. these are just a few of many strange occurrences in this game that make it difficult to play, and its problem is that it puts so little of the game within your control, and so much of it up to random chance. and, this is a small thing, but dungeon crawler-type games usually boast a team of adventurers, so it feels weird to only allow two characters at a time? unfortunately, it is a game that depends so heavily on rng. but rng is not a substitute for gameplay.
