Be warned - this is an incredible idle game. It's always lurking, either alongside or just behind whatever you are working on. It's always ticking away, just waiting to distract you from whatever you are currently doing. Mechanics are easy to understand, efficiency is easy to discover, and the art style is very pretty and with plenty of charm.

Rusty's Retirement is definitely *a game*. I recently got into idle games after witnessing the lovecraftian horror game that was Cookie Clicker and decided to look a bit more into them. Honestly, for me, there isn't much more out there. I don't think it's a genre for me. However when a game looks as cute as this one, I can't help but to be interested. I also love the farming and collecting of stuff meme. The interesting thing about this game though is that it runs passively in a portion of your screen so it's more of an accompaniment for when you have to complete tasks on your PC. When engaged in this way it's a delight. It helps my ADHD like behavior and, counterintuitively, makes me more productive when doing other things. You can have cows, pigs, bees and bushes in addition to regular old crops. also everything is robot themed and they upgrade stuff for you. The mechanics aren't to deep, but the whole experience is quite pleasant. I give it a 3 Rusty Resting on a Rump out of 5 🤖🤖🤖

Very meh game. Doesn't do enough, it's really just slow for the sake of being slow so you do other things in the meanwhile. Plant seeds, upgrade your bots, plant more seeds, only 2-3 actual "house" upgrades that don't do much. The genre has potential but this ain't it.

Only option is very tiny sliver of the screen where you cant read or see anything or 50% off your screen is taken up so you cant do anything else. Needs more zoom options because it is unplayable. Having to manually adjust all other windows to fit this game is more hassle than its worth.

Very poor support for MacOS. Moving it to a different screen makes it disappear and become unusable. It seems to really struggle if you move it to a screen with a different resolution. After many months of waiting for a fix, literally nothing has come out.

Its a charming lil game, wish it could be played in a window but well. unfortunately the performance issues on any resolution I have higher than 1080 are abit too problematic. so for me I can't recommend this, unless you have 1080 or lower resolution, which is a shame as it is a cute lil game but the lagging my computer is a deal breaker.

An interesting overlay or desktop companion game, I don't know what it's called. This is the first game that uses this concept that I played. I think many game developer will try to make games like this, because I think there was much more interesting idea to be made like this, like 3D game in your desktop (since most of the clones I've seen are also pixel art games), or a famous IPs that allow players to have the character stayed on their desktop interactively (as a game), and so on. XD Anyway, I think you will enjoy this game if you like decorating games or especially farming games. But you have to work hard first and then you can enjoy the automation and made it as an overlay apps without needing much more control. So you can enjoy decorating the farm. As an improvement, I think it could be more enjoyable if the UX would be improved as a general app, like able to click and drag to create a selection box, hold to enter a "move object mode", etc. To make the feel more seamless between desktop and the game. And for the decorating system, I don't think players need to wait until the NPC completes the moving process when they want to organize the farm since this is a decorating game. Instead, I think this game must have a decoration mode to make it easier. Chip shop also would be better to use a real time clock as the cooldown, or there are ways to shorten the cooldown times or increase the slots. Because it was also hard to get and reroll upgrades for the old seeds.

I need HELP! 38 hours in less than 3 days. Easy mechanics, progression and achievements. But don't be fooled, It has enough systems and content to make you wonder how to improve your farm's efficiency and aesthetics constantly, even if you max things out. Beautiful art. Not safe for work. Rusty will live in my desktop for a while, he's my buddy now.

This is the best idle game I've ever seen, concept of it sitting on your screen barely covering 1\4 of it while you can do other stuff - is pure 10/10. Feeds my ADHD while I watch videos, draw, and plant my crops from time to time. Only thing that would've been awesome - some kind of prestige after unlocking new farm and starting over. One thing that changes - farm layout, and it's okay and has it's quirks, but seems a bit underwhelming. Overall very cute and chill idler, if you look for something not demanding your constant attention - this one is for you. I think this game goes hard when you have that one funky very wide display screen, I assume it can cover entirety of it without need to scroll through your farm :D
