I came across this on Steam today and am absolutely thrilled, it looks like a 1:1 realization of "The Movies" by Lionhead Studios, great! Can't wait to do a cool Lets Play on my YouTube channel and make my own movies!

Just purchased this game because I was a huge fan of the original game and was very excited to see this come to steam. I am pleased to see a lot of updates are being made to the game

The original played much better and had more to do. Why remake a game and make it worse? Waste of money and time unless they plan on patching in some of the original stuff, or try and improve it somehow.

I have to say it is going in the right direction... of course, there still needs to be some improvements here and there. Compared to Blockbuster Inc., it is clearly the better game.

I noticed that some of the figures move from side to side. A few little quirks here and there, but overall I like it. I'm just trying to figure out the controls and navigate how and when to do things

This version is not as good as the original game by Lionsgate. The graphics are outdated and it became boring after a few hours. I would only purchase it on sale.

Steam has a big problem accepting not polished/finished/optimized games. I bought it, launched it and my GeForce 3060 top at a constant 72°C. It's a refund for me.

I'm probably going to return this game, but decided to sleep on it first. The jank is unreal. The laziness, the lack of polish... I played the demo and was highly disappointed. I waited for them to make improvements, then bought it on sale for 50% off. I still don't think it was worth it. The fact that there is already a DLC tells me they aren't interested in fixing the glaring problems. As a superfan of the Lionhead Studios Movies game, I was beyond excited for the release of this blatant copy-cat, hoping to see something similar but modernized. That is not what I got. The best part of the original Movies game was making watchable movies. With this game, you get garbage. The movies you create contain so many visual glitches they're painful to watch. I get that this was not created by a big developer, but the impression I get is that they really didn't care much about the product that they were creating. Maybe tomorrow I'll feel like investing a bit more time into this game, but more likely I'll be asking for a refund.

This game is essentially a new version of Lionheads fantastic classic "The Movies". It looks the same, it plays more or less the same, and they have adopted much of its gameplay elements. And still.. so many years later, I would rather download the old Lionhead classic than "Movie Tycoon". Why? 1st: In the old classic, watching your characters go through the movie making process, actually generates a feel that they are so. The old times characters dont magically jump from place to place, their costumes dosent glitch all the time. But the old times charactes socialize, they drink, they fight, they speak. Let me give a few examples: - When they shoot a scene; In the old Lionhead classic, they run into start position, they shoot the scene and the director screams "cut". And then they walk towards the next scene. In this game, they teleport to a position, then they teleport to a a new position, all while the scripted dialouge runs in loops. If there are more takes on the same set, it will be the combined dialouge for all these scenes running, so shooting two different scenes looks exactly the same. It kills the immersion. - In "Movies Tycoon", happiness counts for something.. but there are no place to get a breakdown on why they are happy or unhappy. In "The Movies", characters have personalities that interact with each other. Its visible, and it has a true impact on the game, as putting two people who love each other in a romantic drama adds to the quality of that movie. "Movies Tycoon" dosent immerse you the same way. Not even close. Everything in this game are a bar waiting to be filled. Shooting a scene are watching a bar. They even have progress bars on everything too. I find myself just dragging movie scripts in a cycle through the different stations they need to be. Watching the world are just not believeable and just not fun. Im puzzled, how a game 10 years old, with outdated graphics, still can be more fun to play than a modern new game with all those new possibilites!
