At least 50 jump scares for a game that lasts just a little more than an hour. The AI voice didn't bother me as much as these other reviews.

Don’t let the negative reviews fool you – this game deserves a real chance!

Review:
I finished House of Lost Souls in just under 2 hours (119 minutes) – and honestly? I really don’t understand the negative reviews.
Some people complain about clunky controls, bad AI, cheap jump scares, or hard-to-find items. But here’s the thing: I didn’t experience any bugs, had no technical issues, and I thought the item placement was actually well designed.
Maybe the dev has released a few updates and fixes, and if that’s the case – then give the game a second chance and rate it fairly!
Atmosphere-wise? This game crushes so many other indie horror titles. Everyone complains about the same reused house assets and generic rooms in other games – and yet this one, where the dev clearly put in heart and effort, gets unfair criticism?
I really liked the graphics, the creepy tone, and the storytelling, which kept me interested until the end.
As for the voice acting – no, it’s not AAA, but it fits the style and is honestly better than in many low-budget horror games.
If you go in with the right expectations, you get a tight, well-paced horror experience that stays with you.
Final verdict:
I’ve played hundreds of indie horror games. And let me say this: House of Lost Souls is not “bad” – it’s actually great, especially because it tries something of its own.
If you love horror, play it yourself and don’t just blindly follow the negative noise.
I love the dev’s style and I’m excited to see more from them.
Solid 10/10 – well earned.
