I saw the negative reviews and thought that it couldn't be that bad, especially since the first one was so good. Plot twist - it's that bad. I honestly don't think they made the first one with the intention of there being a sequel. It feels like without Franklin and the seemingly supernatural presence of the original the devs just didn't know what direction to go in. What we ended up with was a boring escape room simulator with puzzles that are difficult to understand and even more complicated to solve. To sum it up, the first one made me constantly say "I really don't want to do this" because it was terrifying. This one makes me say "I really don't want to do this" because it simply isn't a fun or rewarding experience.

I enjoyed this game a good bit.
there were some moments where the puzzles and clues provided didn't make a whole lot of sense though.
I know id like an audio log for clues you HEAR.
While there is a log book you can read through, it doesn't log certain things.
Specifically the Morse code puzzle. I CANNOT understand more code unless its written down.
(I can't hear high pitched noises, AKA: I'm mostly Deaf.)
While it is on screen it wasn't long enough to write it down on anything.
Which forced me to look up a play-through so i could use their screen to actually decode it myself.
There was another one that involved a typewriter.
I have NO clue how i was supposed to find the answer, I had to look it up.
If your looking for some mindless scary game, this is NOT it.
You will have to use your brain and pay attention. Mostly.
Dev(s) you did a good job, thank you.

Don't Be Afraid 2 takes an interesting turn from the original, with fewer scary or suspenseful moments, instead focusing more on hidden-object-style puzzle-solving. While this isn’t necessarily a bad direction, the execution could have been better. In my opinion, the game’s saving grace is its story, which is beautifully told and offers two different endings that make sense in their own way. It could have been improved, but as it stands, it’s a decent experience. I’d definitely recommend it—especially if you can get it on sale.

I wouldn't say this is bad but it's not great, either. My issue isn't the puzzles as they're supposed to a be more complex since David is an adult now. I just wished we got more of Franklin instead just his voice overs, because it felt like an after thought or something. I mean, the game had some great ideas about David going to therapy, going through traumatic episodes, and all, but I feel like the game as a whole was just okay. Of course this is just my opinion because there are people who'll feel differently.

As other people have pointed out, this game is no where near as good as the first one. I was really desperate to like it but it was over before it started. I felt like the plot was very weak, the puzzles were either far too easy or far too complicated and by the end of the game I felt a little bit cheated. The graphics are great, and more polished than the first game however that's where my "pro's" end. It doesn't have the same atmosphere as the first game, nor the same depth of plot. It kind of feels like the dev's got far too complacent in the success of the first game and didn't put the same effort into this game. I was expecting a longer game play, and just "more".

Pretty darn good. Obviously doesn't beat the first game, but well worth it none the less. Adult David, adult puzzles.

Don't Be Afraid 2 definitely surprised me. While many seem to prefer the first game's raw horror, I found this sequel to be a significant improvement. The higher production values are immediately noticeable, with better graphics and sound design.
Yes, there are more puzzles, and the horror takes a bit of a backseat. But I personally enjoyed the change of pace. The puzzles were engaging, and the atmosphere was still unsettling enough to keep me invested. If you're looking for a pure horror experience, this might not be for you. However, if you appreciate a well-crafted puzzle-adventure with a creepy vibe, give it a shot. I liked it better than the first one.
