As a lot of people commenting, I'd love to like this game, but there is something wrong. After 6-7 hours I finished the last act with the same team and broken strategy
(turtle, put the shield up to 200-300, shield bash to nuke everyone)
and nothing in the games makes me want to try another team. There are too few options to block incoming attacks, so I never removed the turtle from my team which is a pity knowing the number of mystlings available.
Firstly it takes time and commitment to evolve a Mystling, you have so many to chose from, and no idea if there is a game-changing ability you could build your deck around after evolving. A few suggestions : have a "compendium" with the skills unlocked after evolving a mystling, and let every mystling have an XP bar to make the skills unlockable. Have card and blessings that you can only obtain when choosing a specific Mystling (like in a lot of other deckbuilding roguelikes)
Also I only used the default character (offers one free card per battle) because with any other character I used, I ended up with the base deck because the Mystlings upgrades were too crucial. What is the point of a deck builder if you have no opportunity to change your deck? So I'd increase the global difficulty and put this skill by default on every character to enhance build variety and control over the deck.
So overall a nice game introducing a lot of potentially fun features, but the progression system along with the lack of "endgame" features nerfs the replay-ability where it could be doubled or tripled when you see the number of Mystlings and starting characters the game offers. It encourages sticking with the same strategy over and over instead of trying to break the game in as many ways as possible (which should be the whole point). And the maps are re-used, not generated
Also, some issues with the controller: you can't discard without the mouse
I am setting the review as "positive" because I don't want to encourage the dev to abandon this game, it is not far from very good, it just need some ajustments, but the basis is solid.

This game was everything i would hope it would be. Pokemon mashed with slay the spire. Amazing concept but sadly not enough content. I feel like something to gain outside of the main battles instead of characters and eggs would be nice like equipment. I personally see that there is an insane amount of potential in this game and i hope that the way it is now isnt how its gunna be forever. More eggs would be nice more styles that complement each other would be nice and for sure more staples. At least for me once i got the shark looking one it seems kinda dumb not to use him in everything. Maybe add a vanilla one with no activation and just raw attack. Ps. It would be cool to see the modding community take over this game.

A lot of mechanics are not telegraphed well. Which statuses go away at end of turn, what resources are used for, how shop costs scale, etc. Very frustrating when you're trying to build a strategy. Art is nice but doesn't make up for being frustrating to play.
