Steam version of the remake for the hit game Tasokare Hotel??? Anyway, I'll leave my two cents as a long-term SEEC simp and critic (SEEC slanderer. just kidding). No spoilers, though. [h2] Graphics & Audio [/h2] The graphics are pretty as ever, with lots of CGs. Extremely lively sprites with very fluid animations. I'm confident SEEC's budget went to the animation *cough* BGM is nice, I'm not an expert so it's enough for me. The game is not fully voiced, but don't let this and the first few chapters deceive you, the voice acting in second half of the game is INSANE. For players who have tried the old Tasokare Hotel, this remake brings a whole new experience just like playing the game for the first time. [h2] Gameplay & Mechanics [/h2] Around 10 hours for quick players. 12-15 if you play leisurely. Not just reading texts, but interacting with the game as a whole. Puzzles are of average difficulty and there is an option to view hints, so don't worry about getting stuck. There are also hints to game branches. The UI can use a bit of improvement. For example getting redirected back to the menu after each chapter only to get a read next story popup is... counterintuitive. Also the horizontal flow chart is hard to navigate, vertical charts like Yotsume God and original mobile version are better & clearer. Those are only minor inconveniences, but encountering them over and over might have a negative effect of player's experience. I don't understand why this thing is Genshin level heavy. Please, do something... SEEC. [h2] Story [/h2] Excellent in terms of both mysetery-solving and somewhat adventure (mind adventure I'd say). Characters are extremely well-written. The experience is one of a kind, and SEEC's immersive way of writing is truly what got me so deep in the hole. Sorry I don't know how to write flowery language but I assure you this game gets good reviews despite everything I've been whining about because peak fiction. No English translation at the moment. Returning players from the original Tasokare Hotel will have a grasp on the story, but it's just a loss because the English fanbase is SO eager to pay for the game I swear. I wonder if an English patch will be added in the future. [h2] Audience [/h2] Teens and adults, probably. [h2] Price [/h2] The overall quality is insanely high for an average visual novel (animated sprites & CGs, art, interactive puzzles,...). But it's still too pricey... Twice Yotsume God -Reunion-'s price, which is... fully voiced for about 5 hours and also has the same features (English translation too?!). The amount of voiced dialogues here doesn't even add up to 4 hours at best. And what? Compared to mobile Re:newal there are even less features (no collecting gacha cards, cleaning room, etc.). Sale discount doesn't help much either. Not to mention there's also the behind the scenes patch which costs another fortune. I mean... the amount of craftwork is admirable but they at least have to consider average price on the market if they want customers lmao. [h2] Overall [/h2] 8/10. Waiting for future updates, because I see there's a version number in the corner (?). Hopefully the developer will consider this feedback, please SEEC-sama.
