🌟 Soulshard Co-Op Review 🌟 "Soulshard" is an indie precision platformer that's here to test your skills and patience! 😅 With its beautifully minimalist pixel art set in a realm between life and death, this game offers a thrilling solo or local co-op experience. 🤣 Multiplayer Fun Factor Grab a friend and brace yourself for a test of teamwork and nerves. Both players must finish the level to proceed, meaning one mistake and you both start over! Picture the tension as one player reaches the end, waiting anxiously for the other to dodge deadly traps. It's nail-biting and exhilarating! 😬 😍 What We Loved... - Stunning Graphics: Mysterious and cute, like "Inside" meets "Limbo". - Engaging Mechanics: Dynamic levels and straightforward gameplay. - Co-Op Fun: The unique multiplayer challenge adds excitement. ...and What We Didn't 🙄 - Input Lag: Frustrating delays that can break the flow. - Hitbox Issues: Expect to die from barely missing a platform. - Ladder Mechanics: Prepare for some choice words with these tricky controls. 💭 Final Thoughts "Soulshard" offers a mix of joy and frustration, with a captivating atmosphere and challenging gameplay. For just $2, it's a solid indie effort that delivers a unique co-op experience. Want the full scoop? Check out our detailed review on YouTube! 😎⬇️ https://youtu.be/N9mZDyTjBK4

My Experience Having played three titles by developer Nibb Games before, I was mistakenly under the impression that Soulshard would be a relatively short, straightforward puzzle-platformer. Color me surprised when, once my co-op partner and I got started, it was a precision platforming experience without any real puzzle elements. I wouldn't say that the precision platforming was unenjoyable, necessarily, but this need for precision was somewhat at odds with the way I've typically played games developed by Nibb, using Steam's Remote Play Together feature. Although my co-op partner and I live only 30 miles from each other, there still seemed to be the slightest bit of input lag, and every bit matters in some of Soulshard's late-game levels. Once we got started, the only issue we ran into was when my co-op partner began inexplicably running off the edge of a cliff (into spikes) whenever a certain level began. Although I can't remember the exact number of the level, I do recall that it was later in the game. It seemed that perhaps the developer hadn't thought about the additional room necessary to accommodate a second character at the beginning of the level. To account for this oversight, my co-op partner began trying to run and jump in the other direction as soon as they spawned. This usually worked, although the timing seemed tight. Even though the game wasn't what I thought it was going be, I certainly can't hold that against developer Nibb Games. You can clearly see the precision required when viewing the game's trailer. I flagged the "puzzle" and "puzzle platformer" tags on the Steam store to try and ensure that other potential players would know what they're getting into. I enjoyed the game, although I might've had a better experience playing it in true local co-op instead of using Remote Play Together. I like the game's visual design, and my co-op partner made multiple comments about how "cute" our characters were.
