Stealth-action in the most literal and best way possible. The story of Iv 2 is about Sean, a hitman with a conscious trying to rescue his kidnapped dad. Sean and friends fall down a rabbit-hole of conspiracy while acting as rogue elements thrashing against the shadow masters. Its not gonna blow your mind, and every now and again feels like its asking you to just go with it. I liked it overall though, and it has multiple endings effected by actions through the game and ties into your objectives and gameplay stipulations well. The gameplay is what I really wanna talk about though. The stealth in Intravenous 2 is very cool and very obnoxious. There's tons of options like breaking lights, flicking switches and breakers, lethal and non-lethal tools, closets to hide in, dumpsters for bodies, night-vision, the list goes on and on. There's also lots to consider; suppressed guns still make lots of noise, enemies spot you almost instantly, cameras, radios, broken windows, leaving the lights off and doors open, the list of what can get you caught also goes on and on. I admit I'm not very good at stealth games, but I found it completely overwhelming. However the stealth is also the crux of what makes this game so good as not just a hardcore purist stealth game, but an action game as well. When the bullets start flying, Iv2 doesn't let you rely on your decade old Hotline Miami skills of moving in one direction spraying an M16. You'll get dropped by one stray shotgun blast, mag-dumping your gun will ventilate the furniture and not much else, and its easy to find yourself being swarmed from all sides. You need to utilize the many, many tools Intravenous 2 gives you, and use it to get your advantage over the highly reactive guards. Some examples of what I mean: -A grenade blows up a few goons and shatters the lights letting me use the darkness to dodge guys watching through the window. -The enemy is swarming a warehouse so I cut the power, turn on the goggles, and play hit and run while they literally trip in the dark. -Firing a flare gun at a corner, the guards back away from the fire while I make a hasty retreat for the exit. -Some guy hears a suppressed gunshot and instead of letting him just walk in and report the body I kick a door open in his face to kill him. -Tossing a molotov cocktail into a carpeted hallway then watching the fire spread and waste like 8 people. Personally I love this combination of blasting a few guys coming for me, then ducking back into the shadows before the reinforcements arrive, before unleashing a new horror upon them. It really makes me feel like an evil commando bastard, equal parts playing with my food and fighting for my god damn life. I have no clue what the intended experience is since there's like 5 difficulties and a metric fuck-shit of mechanics but I just played on Hard, went in swinging every mission, and it was a good time. There's a bunch of other stuff I could go into like gun modding, a skill system I never used, custom difficulties, story length, gun collecting, new game+, and how I really wish there were more sound cues, but the core gameplay is the real highlight. Overall Intravenous 2 is a very unique and fun game. The stealth is extraordinarily hardcore and obnoxiously intricate, but for everyone else who likes when things go wrong, it nails a delicate balance between requiring fast accurate reflexes and quick problem solving skills. Its a rare breed of action game and boy howdy I had a good time with it, and would recommend to anyone who likes some panicky crazy tactical shooty or the most wildly hardcore stealth experience of their life.

Intravenous 2 is peak kino, i really had blast playing the game despite getting frustrated because i tried to play the game quietly without killing anyone which is tempting especially when you play as my boy Steve. the game carry almost all the good things about the previous game and improving on it and adding some additional great ideas like weapons customization. the weapons customization is neat idea that allowed me be to pick Ar-15 with silencer, in order to go john wick mode (make some noises inside the building to lure the goons, turn off the fuse box and then use the night vision to take them one by one ) the level design is interesting and at the same time is unfair because when you try to play the game stealthily every door and window are designed in way to make sure you get screwed. the writing in the game is improved and it's less edgy and more believable and the OST is absolutely banger. my only complaints is that the game had some really cool ideas that you will only see in one level and a good example is the police station level when you can approach the level during in the middle of the day or during night which both has pros and cons and also the idea if you did some favour for some of the side characters they can assist you in turning off the power grid which allows you to kill all the enemies in complete darkness. also some cool ideas that i feel like it was not mentioned anywhere, the i love the enemy chatter when they spotted because reminded of F.E.A.R hell its even better because enemy sometimes calls you by your name they know who are you and what are you capable of. also when you throw grenade or Molotov it can create fire that spreads across the level and don't forget the stun grenade throwing to a group of goons and they will start shooting at random direction which result into kill other goons.

The game is like, 20 hours long if you're bad at it and I've put in over 200 at the time of writing. It's basically perfect, really fun to play again and again and just get better at. Perfect midpoint between the classic metal gear games and hotline miami, though the dev swears he's never played the second and that it's actually trying to be splinter cell.

Controls are really poor. I can't bind to the keys I want to (caps lock), and you can't change the mouse sensitivity. It's not really clear why enemies can see me even though I'm crouched behind cover (unless that only works if you go prone, which you can't shoot from and takes a while to get up and down from). Not being able to change sensitivity is the real deal breaker. You really need to be precise for this kind of game. And the last time I gave an indie top-down shooter the benefit of the doubt about mouse sensitivity, it didn't go so well (see my review for OTXO). The dialogue could do with editing by a native English speaker, too.

Intravenous 2 - absolutely magnificent game that takes the best elements from Hotline Miami, Splinter Cell, and Manhunt, refining them into something incredibly satisfying to play. The game strongly encourages creativity in your approach and rewards quick thinking – you can complete the same mission in countless different ways. While the plot isn't particularly groundbreaking in the end, it's still engaging thanks to its quality writing. The soundtrack is absolutely phenomenal – reminiscent of Payday but slightly simpler and darker, creating the perfect atmosphere for the gameplay. What makes this game stand out is how it blends stealth and action elements so seamlessly. One moment you're carefully planning your approach, and the next you're adapting on the fly when things go wrong. The level design deserves special praise for offering multiple pathways and encouraging experimentation. The visual style complements the gameplay perfectly, with its gritty aesthetics enhancing the overall tone of the experience. The only drawback is the controller support, especially for the Steam Deck. Currently, playing with a controller feels awkward and limiting – instead of feeling like a predator, you feel sluggish and unresponsive. I'm really hoping for a complete rework of the controller mechanics to make this experience more accessible on different platforms.

I think this game is best on PC. Did not like the gameplay on my Steam Deck, plus the letters are way to small to read. Did not had a clue on how to manage the weapons menu and upgrades, it was very confusing. I really wanted to like the game, it was appealing to me the top-down shooter, however I was not able to have fun on my SD or to understand how to manage the arsenal.

I was surprised that the reviews have dropped to very positive from when it first launched, so I read a lot of the negative reviews and was not surprised to learn that the complaints are "Controls are bad" "Game requires stealth" and "I have a fairly minor issue but I am not going to answer, or at least troubleshoot inadequately when the dev asks for details when I rate the game badly for this issue". This game and its predecessor are not easy. I cleared the first one fine, though it was hard. People complaining about the stealth necessity, I watched a speed run competitor during beta testing--which was only a few levels--complete and place first in the speed run level completely loud with a shotgun. You are bad. You rate this game badly because you are bad. Long live this dev, making this absolutely excellent homage to MGS and other stealth icons. Do not hesitate to buy this game.
