I dabbled a little bit into this game the past few days, but can’t wait to explore it more. If you’re a fan of city builders it’s as good as it gets and I like that. A lot of the building mechanics are provided upfront and doesn’t come later in the game.
I will say that, although it is compatible with steam deck, it can be a little confusing to navigate at first. But thoroughly enjoying it.

Replica of Ceasar 4 with improved graphips. They took all the flaws of old city building games. A building has its radius and, normaly, if you need to fullfill many needs then you end up building only those buildings that give service and naturaly there is almost no space left for the houses. Completly brain dead game development. They should have learned from games that have evolved in the past years like Anno (2205 and 1800) where the service giving buildings dont have a radius but somewhat like road points. Jusp place them and combine the valuse. It seems like some shooter studio did the game with close to 0 experience for strategy games. A pity! Not many RTS or city building games of the newer type on the market. It is a shame that a nice game like Ceasar 4 did not get any upgrade with a potential successor. I cant understand studios that do all the effort just to fail. Anybody with a little bit of brain could have forseen that. I dont know hat what they are thinking. One thing is sure and that is that there is almost no logic and sence left in game studios

Uncannily feels like a modernized, spiritual successor to Caesar 4. Extra campaigns as *free* "DLC", amazing and thematic soundtrack. If you liked classics like Caesar 4 or CivCity Rome, you'll like this. It's everything I like about those games, plus QoL improvements you'd expect in 2025. For me, its a 10/10.

This game is so much fun for those that love playing City Builders like I do! This one definitely scratches a brain itch i have with my ADHD and I am so thankful for it...do I ever finish games like this...NO but boy do I love spending hrs playing realizing i should change how I did my layout and with this game, instead of my starting new game policy you can move building with so much more ease which means I might actually complete one of my City Builder games!!! I'll check back in a month ;)

Intuitive and relatively straightforward city builder/resource management game. Appreciate the free DLCs and post-release support. Thumbs up just for that these days! For the price you can't go wrong on this, well worth it.

This game is on sale now as 15 may 2025 - but it is for sure worth full price even.
Graphics are awesome, same with very nice music and sounds.
But real gamer here is the gameplay - much similar to old classic Caesar series of games.
We have insane number of additional missions also in FREE campaigns dlc which is awesome.
To be honest it is one of best ancient city builders, for me on par with excellent too Pharaoh New Era.
If you want chill gameplay, not so hard entry level and easy to play game Citadelum is worth of Your precious time and money. Simply try it, im sure You will love it.

Very generic citybilder and most features seem to be implemented careless. Playing through the main game loop takes less than 2 hours and the campaign does not bring anything new to the main game loop.

I really hoped this to be like Caesar III. It looks like Caesar III, but it simply lacks depth in the campaign and gameplay mechanics. The objectives do not feel hard to achieve and are incredibly repetitive.

Cute game. Very easy. Very nostalgic of those good ol' Caesar days. Runs well, graphics and detail are good, no bugs from what I could see. Enough logistics etc to make it entertaining. Was a fun afternoon.

I initially was put off by the perceived difficulty of the game, but then realized that in order to build pretty mid or late-game, you have to be efficient in developing your city first. You can move buildings at no cost later. Work off of just one reservoir and one market to develop your city. This will be enough to get you through all tutorial missions. Leave space for stuff like bath, doctors etc. Work to increase housing levels rather than adding houses.
It also helped that I stopped wasting resources in the beginning (fire station works with a well) which also saved money, and then focus on serving that first trade route, and things should go smoothly.
Now I'm actually enjoying the game.
Be aware that like most other city building games, you will need a pretty good GPU to play it. Also, if you don't like in-game military conflicts, this game is probably not for you.
The buildings are beautiful, though, especially as they upgrade.
