FIRST REVIEW. 🏆
Don't have Zuma at home? 🐸 Want a slightly cheaper alternative that Grandma will mistake for the real thing at the checkout counter? Congratulations, you can have Zumba Garden, very obviously titled to trick you into thinking they're related!
I'm teasing: it's honestly not a bad game! If you like Match-3 marble shooters but don't want Popcap's Zuma for whatever reason, you now have an alternative. And it has achievements, so if you like grinding for those, that's always a plus.
Zumba Garden is a little clunky with no accessibility options other than turning the sound/music off entirely, and also has a bug where if you access the power up menu from the main menu you cannot return and have to force exit the game entirely. It also is only available in full screen for some reason. Also the bonus "sparkles" are sometimes hidden by things on stage and very easy to miss even if you catch the audio cue that one has spawned.
However despite these flaws, the gameplay itself is charming enough and enjoyable, and occasionally a challenge (once you get about 20 - 30 levels in). Some of the power-ups are incredibly handy (while others, like the "arc throw" are frustrating and better to avoid triggering), and it's a nice take on the marble-shooting genre.
6/10. Not very original, by any means, but do you really need much originality when you're just looking to scratch the marble-shooting itch? 🌷
