How many times over the years now have we seen a solo indie developer try to assemble an "open world zombie survival game" with Marketplace assets? ..That answer is too damn many. This is yet another such game and like 95% of them on Steam now, this is utter trash to be harsh. To be kind and nice to this solo developer, it's just way too early and NOT even close to being ready for an early access release. "Early Access" is NOT an excuse to launch your game this empty and this buggy. https://youtu.be/nTPaf8lvkmU Just a few of the problems with this game on launch day today: - The world is filled with empty houses with nothing to search and that serve no purpose except make us think "Oh, I've seen this exact same empty house asset in 20 other open world zombie games" - Boars and zombies alike are dropped into the world as you run around exploring or gathering resources. You can see them fall into the world near you and see them getting spawned in. This is terrible, looks terrible, and the worst way to spawn entities into your game. - The combat is ridiculously atrocious. It looks bad, feels bad, and "is" bad. Mash your left mouse button and watch your character flail with terrible animations at the zombie! Oh what fun this is! (..not!) - Zombies move way too fast and spawn in out of thin air around you too frequently. This is NOT a good way to make your game "challenging" - Sometimes you swim when traversing water, and other times you walk on the water. Uhhh, not good - The rag doll physics make the game look and feel 'cheap and lazy' An important note: This game takes up a massive install size of 35 GB! I want to make myself perfectly clear... using assets is NOT the problem. It's perfectly understandable that an indie developer is going to need to use assets to create an ambitious game like this. The overall game however when being sold for peoples hard earned money needs to be polished, run well, play well, and mostly important be "fun" to play. Launching a game in the state we can clearly see in my video review and trying to use "early access" as an excuse is NOT acceptable. Steam is over-saturated with long abandoned 'open world zombie survival' games that look, play, and feel just like this mess right here. Indie developers all do the same thing.. make a hundred promises about how they will finish it and make it great and never stop working on it until it's amazing. And their promises always end up as empty promises and their games almost always end up quickly abandoned when they realize the harsh reality. The reality that their cobbled together map of marketplace assets didn't make them the quick million dollars they were hoping for. Sad but true. This game will take that exact same path... we've seen it so many times before. NOT RECOMMENDED. This game makes 'Dead Matter' look like a super polished and amazing game. At least this developer didn't scam thousands of crowd funding people out of millions of dollars.

I wanted to give this game a try and try to enjoy it as much as I could. This game being made by a sole developer is impressive! After close to 18 hours in the game, I have reached level 18, built up a strong base, made a farm, fully clothed myself and housed a few chickens. Being that this is my first survival game, I enjoyed the introductory quests that helped me learn how to manage the entirely new genre. Anyone who has given this game criticism without even playing for an hour is just asinine. The game is not perfect, but it also has a huge map with tons of areas to explore at your own risk. I died so many times in this game, but I love using the machete on the zombies, my weapon of choice. Super fun, chill game if you're just looking to kill some time or unwind after a frustrating day. I will be playing this game more and more. Did I also mention this game is built on unreal engine 4? That's pretty cool, in my opinion.
