Corn Kidz 64 Reviews
The unauthorized, kid-friendly version of the classic Stephen King thriller (or maybe not, maybe it's just a game about one-horned goatbabies)

"Corn Kidz 64" plays like a hybrid of "Mario 64" and "Banjo-Kazooie", with platforming paired with lite puzzle solving and exploration. The game manages to feel like an homage to those games while still having it's own identity. The platforming isn't quite like anything I've personally played before. The story is simple, often funny., and ends while it's still good.
"Corn Kidz 64" is mainly comprised of a tutorial level, one big level, and a final level. The final area was slightly frustrating because of some design flaws; the way you grab bird ammo often led to falling down nearby cliffs. Aside from that, I recommend the game.

A visually great game with smooth and responsive movement.Funny dialogue and characters but the camera on tight spaces is a bit finicky/wonky.

10/10 Masterpiece wish there was more levels but there's still more than enough content for a great experience :)

Game that feels kind of like a miracle? The Rareware homages are cool or whatever I just can't get enough of the first and last levels that are just straight vibes to the bloodstream while you fiddle your way through working out how you're gonna finagle the immaculately janky controls to solve this next wacky jump. The colors rule the music rules the writing rules though I'm pretty sure the owl plotline was a dogwhistle or something not totally sure what was going on there point is I don't know if I would want or need any more Corn Kidz than already exists because the tiny slice of it we do get feels like such a complete statement of intent purpose and direction. The ludonarrative answer to the Walmart halloween cupcake.

A great time that is reminiscent of old N64 Collect-a-Thon games but with some very nice quality of life and reduction of jank changes - it's a lovely little game that is very worth playing and has some nice challenging gameplay too!

Really fun and challenging platformer with cute character designs. This game really makes you think to figure out the puzzles and tests your platforming skills. The story is very simple and funny, and the music is fun. Totally worth the price, you can tell a lot of love went into this game.

I really loved this game at first. The characters are so cute and charming. You make goat noises when you talk and jump, your feet make clip clop noises when you walk around, and you scamper up and down walls like a cat. But I have issues with the controls and level design.
The controls work most of the time, but they are inconsistent. You seem to lock on to targets when you air dash, but sometimes you don't and then you go dashing in a seemingly random direction and then have to repeat sections. You are also painfully slow. I intuitively press the dash button while walking around to go faster, but this only stops you in your tracks so your character can punch because you can't dash while walking, only in the air or while crouching. The worst part is the fall damage. You want to get down from a hight quickly, you take an arbitrary amount of fall damage (you can never tell how much health you have and how much health you will lose because your health meter is an ambiguous quantity of liquid). And if you get hit mid-air, it just adds insult to injury to take a chunk of damage from getting hit, then taking extra damage when you respawn at the check point, where you may die and have to sit through a very slow death sequence before you respawn at the same checkpoint again after death.
As for the level design. It's more of an issue of knowing how to progress. The main collectable in this game are cubes, but these cubes do not unlock levels as they do in most collectables, they increase your experience until you level up which will allow you to open certain doors within a level. Your actual goal in a level is not clearly communicated, so you end up wondering around doing things that you hope will eventually lead you to completing the level, but often only leads to more cubes, which you don't need unless you're trying to 100%.
In the main level of the game, you have to defeat an owl, but to fight him, you have to collect disco balls, you need the disco balls to make something happen, you don't know what until you collect all the balls. But in this same level, there is also bottle caps for you to collect, but this won't progress anything because it will only unlock a health upgrade, but how would you know that you need to collect one sub-collectable to progress and not another. There is no logical connection between disco balls and the owl, so you just do things and hope for the best where as in the classic collectathons, your goal was very clear from the get go, collect main collectable to unlock new level.
I'm giving this game a thumbs down, but it's really a toss up, because I do really like a lot about this game. It's got amazing graphics, very cute characters, and great music. But the gameplay just isn't quite there yet. I hope they make a sequel, because I do see a lot of potential. But I really hope they experiment more with controls and move-set. It's just too slow and clunky at the moment to be fun. And PLEASE get rid of the fall damage in future games.

A retro-platformer that makes a really strong impression within its first minutes of gameplay, oozing with charm and animations that make staying on board a rewarding experience. A really sweet soundtrack that makes a grandiose ending on the final sections of the adventure, pair that with platforming challenges for the most daring, and you've got yourself a lovely snack of a game that can become a dessert, if you so please.
I wasn't born in the 64 type-games era, but this gives me the most wonderful glimpse into it, and makes me long for something that I can now enjoy. I was actually rather sad when the last challenges were cleared, and I had finished the game thoroughly.
Even considering it's low price, and amount of playable areas, If a game like this can generate such an impact in such a short amount of time, then take it as a sign that it is nothing short of remarkable.
Awesome game, give it a shot! (Seve my beloved get you some nachos)
