Game definitely has legs, and I can't wait to see where those legs take it. The crafting system is pretty unique and forces you to prioritize and make choices, and I could see some really cool play styles emerging, even with the current arsenal of cards available. Play smart! I stepped it down to normal difficulty for my first play through, and I was still cutting it close on HP at the end.

Nothing can beat the simple pleasure of summoning an army of goons and watching them wipe away the board.

So I want to give a short initial review that I will update as the game expands:
So far, I am loving the game. It's an excellent little roguelike deckbuilder with fun ideas and great execution. I am surprised how polished the game is so early in early access.
The game's style is cute, and the gameplay is compelling. It will eventually need more varied content to be infinitely replayable, and there will need to be balancing. Even on easy, for a veteran roguelike deckbuilder player, I find the boss battles to be extremely difficult, while the rest are very easy.
The game is in an excellent position to expand into one of the better games in the genre on Steam. All it needs is time and resources. Until then, the game is definitely a recommended buy, but the hours you will probably put into it will initially be limited due to the need for more content and wrinkles added to the game loop.
You can really see the potential, and buying it now will help it reach that potential.

Highly Recommend! 10/10 indie gem!
Slime Alchemist is a charming new addition to the deck-building genre with a fresh take on card acquisition. Instead of getting rewards based on clears or reaching specific stages, the titular Slime Alchemist takes the essences of defeated enemies and extracts their move sets. Every move in the game can be acquired by the player. If you see it, you can do it. Keep an eye out for interesting enemy combos because they'll teach you how some cards can come together for some interesting synergy. Whether turning your enemies into alchemical reagents is ethical or not is a question best left to people, not slimes.
The game works on an action economy system where different actions fill up action meters for enemies and the protagonist. Success lies in balancing power and efficiency. This is a great substitute for a traditional mana system and a genuine breakthrough in turn-based combat.
When you finish the game you unlock a higher difficulty. It kicked my ass so I haven't seen what lies beyond but the variety of builds available through card selection and passives as well as the increasing difficulty ranges gives the game replay value. This escalates as the "threat" accumulated increases. Exploration on the map makes it go up so you must balance the search for loot with the completion of the win condition because the bosses WILL scale beyond your ability to deal with them if left unattended. The name of the game is Aggression, Exploration, Efficiency and Synergy. Turtling will not help you!
