The music is the best thing about Dere Vengeance and Dere Evil. You can play both games in either order and the story is pretty incoherent but the "meta concept" works... sometimes. The hardest part of this game is figuring out the intro code which is really weird since you don't actually need to hear the audio to complete the game. It's mostly a typical platformer with some physics-based gameplay and funny rules like the fact that collecting coins kills you. I would've liked it if the voiceover directing you where to go was a little bit more sophisticated in telling the truth or lying. As it is it's a linear platformer where you play as a vampire for no apparant reason with weird meta humor and great audio design.

This is a very fun and weird platformer. HOWEVER, the settings are rather limited. No controller support by design and you cannot use the right and left arrow to move the protagonist. :(

This game has some of my favorite aspects of this franchise. This game was a long time in the making, and man was it worth it. The art style is somewhat different, with Knightly having a redesign, but it isn't bad. In fact, it's just as good as the old sprite. This game definitely tones down the difficulty of "Hopbound", which... helps the game immensely. One of the only problems I had with that game was that the difficulty just... increased immediately, especially during the chase scene near the end. Here, the game has some fun mini-games (as can be expected from these games), and has difficult moments (also as can be expected from these games), but it is refined and made far better than it was ever before. There's not as much moments in the game where you will find yourself yelling at it because of BS placements of things that could kill you, which was a bit of a problem with previous games. The scares aren't as effective as Rebirth of Horror's, yet they are still incredible. Is the story the best one? No, that goes to "Hopbound", yet this one easily has the second or third best story in the series so far, the other contender for those placements being Rebirth of Horror's. In universe Darius is as insane and stupid as he has been following "The Last Yandere" (another staple for these games [real Darius, if you read this I'm sure you are a really good person, and I'm sorry for calling your in universe self this stuff]). The music is some of the best it's been. I'm not going to mention the boss fights (yes this series has boss fights) because they are some of the highlights of this game and are heavily related to the story. Just know, that they are really good, using old mechanics and mixing in some cool references to things like that one knife game and Undertale of all things (at least I think it's Undertale). Overall, the game is a solid 9.5 out of 10. The reason it isn't a complete 10 is because there are some things set up that don't get expanded upon and certain parts of the game are a bit predictable and repetitive.

DERE Vengeance is without a doubt one of the biggest contenders for the most disappointing game I've ever played. When I saw the art, and the horror tags? I was hooked. I mean, this is my absolute FAVOURITE style of game. So, to say I'm disappointed, is an understatement, to be honest. I think this game failed at basically every aspect, so I'll break down the major flaws. 1. Platforming The platforming in this game, is dreadful. The ENTIRE game is platforming, there is nothing else, which admittedly, is a bit disappointing, is what some people want, so fine. I can overlook it. But, the platforming itself is bad. The physics are terrible, controlling moving objects is borderline impossible, trying to control your character on moving slopes is the most inconsistent aspect of all time, hitboxes are slightly bigger than they appear to be, and it's not always clear on where to go. I'm sure there are other issues I may have missed, but this sums up the overall problems with the platforming. 2. The horror/Psychological horror Now, when I got this game, I was expecting PSYCHOLOGICAL horror. What I got, was none of that. None of the "horror" in this game was psychological. In fact, to call it horror in the first place, is an absolute insult to the genre itself. There is nothing scary in this game, there's a few very cheap jumpscares, but that's it. Horror is not an aspect in this game that is well utilised, it does not properly utilise any of the player's senses to make them feel on edge or uneasy, instead, the gameplay is very frustrating, which just makes you feel annoyed or irritated, rather than, say, uneasy. This makes the game fail at not only the platforming aspects of the game, but also the horror aspects. 3. Miscellaneous problems Some issues that I couldn't quite fit in the first two categories include: - Bad storyline (Inconsistencies, predictable, lack of effective foreshadowing) - Bland characters (Very self explanatory. None of the characters have any depth to them, besides, ironically, the Ai) - Bad savepoint placement (Often will be lacking savepoints after very difficult jumps, but will have many in easy jumps) - Very repetitive gameplay. You essentially have to replay the same game twice with some minor changes, and then replay it partially for a third time, before finally getting into some fresh content. Overall: This game, is definitely a huge let down. To say I don't recommend it, is frankly an understatement. I honestly hated my experience with this game as a whole. I liked it starting out, but after awhile, it became very low quality, and I was just about done, and only finished the game, because I was so close to the end at that point. Final Score: 2/10
