It was a pretty good game! Not a perfect game, but it was a fun game with a good story.
Pros: -Story was good
-Plenty of lore to find.
-Can get all achievements easy.
-Fun Easter eggs.
-Got plenty for what I paid.
Cons:-Combat In the game felt off, but not terrible.
-Enemy models looked low resolution on some types (Feelers/witches)
-I got hit with a lot of surprise damage. (mimics were fine, but outdoor audio was hard to use to find where an enemy would attack from).
-Audio was either too loud or directionless (sometimes both), but it wasn't horrible; just a little difficult to understand or read.
If I were to score it I would say overall it is a solid 6.5 out of 10. (I would say 7 but the audio was not kind to my ears)

This game is solid, with little to no jank at all (what a leap from "Welcome"); a cross between Condemned and the last two Resident Evil games. Excellent graphics (ray tracing looks great), sound, score. Lots of locations and a good range of weapons. Some of the enemies look a bit bland (yet another large spider?), but then there's those excellent looking doll enemies with top notch animations. Overall, this is no-nonsense, straight horror stuff. If it moves, kill it. And that's it. Much larger game than I expected at a bargain of a price. Puts a lot of AAA games to shame. Will be interesting to see what this dev comes up with in future.
Highly recommended.

Pretty decent game. I do enjoy the realistic graphics but sadly has to lover the graphics from epic to medium to make gameplay smooth. I have a better than potato pc like for some context cyberpunk on high and some ultra settings gives 60 - 90 fps depending on area on map but like it does not feel laggy anywhere and my pc does not heat that much even after hours. But this game on high setting i have to worry about the crazy high heat coming from it.
On medium its pretty decent and enjoyable but here and there there are some weird bugs like grass disappears and reappears on screen, a chunk of road goes invisible. The gun is useless and weapon get damaged quickly or just no indication when it will go out and it just disappears when its done, in the first boss fight it happened with me which was a little annoying. Please add a weapon section in inventory and give clear indication that max only 2 weapons i can carry, had to do a lot of research and waste my time understanding this system. The default settings are very weird, the wobble and psinrt fisheye thing...had to spend some time going through all of them and turn it off.
Respect to the solo dev, pretty awesome game considering that and seems like the dev is very active and still contibuting.
The price though, i got cyberpunk on sale for the original price of this game so its very high for a game like this but yea i bought it on sale which seems right price for this

I will say, that for a game that's been out for almost a year this feels a bit *too* buggy in some places.
Why is the sprint like that? Shopping carts steer better than this character.
The melee fighting is nice, I appreciate that it isn't just a shooter. However, the quick turn around messes me up regularly when trying to maneuver around enemies. Throwing me forward when I go to hit the enemy is great but it doesn't connect 50% of the time and I take 3 hits before the block comes up. Could be better, but also not the worst I've experienced.
I like the atmosphere, the lore tidbits you find around the place. If you think puzzles will bother you, try this anyway because any small puzzle you encounter is easily solvable if you're literate :)
It's difficult to get lost. I didn't find it worth the time to go into the other places in Westminster because it's just fighting an enemy or two and then finding nothing worth your time. It's cool if you're into sight seeing, though.

Unavoidable crash on attempting to start a new game. Trying to change the video settings results in a crash.

A rejoice full take in the Horror genre. This game is very open, leaving the player to explore practically in a open world setting. Plenty to be experienced, the main story is very interesting and is linear.
Highly recommend for however you price your time as it can be rather short (8-16 hours) and doesn't have much replay value. Though don't that detour you it has beautiful ambience paired with craftable combat. With a dashing story leaving you satisfied.

The game is so buggy! Screen glitches, fatal errors, audio cut out, etc. It's almost unplayable right now. From what I have been able to play it's been great but it's so little just due to the bugs.

It was a truly immersive experience from start to finish. I don't think I can recall a game that masters atmosphere as much as Beyond Hanwell. I was on the edge of my seat throughout the entire game, to the point of exhaustion, but somehow, I enjoyed that feeling. A strange fusion of classic gameplay elements from early Resident Evil and Silent Hill, but with a more up-to-date approach to the current times in the latest iterations of horror games. Beyond Hanwell is one of those gems you discover by surprise and that stays etched in your mind even hours after you get up from your chair.

I'm recommending this game on sale as I'm not sure I feel the full price is worth the experience but I am enjoying it. Better than most generic horror games but far from big horror titles like Resident Evil, Evil Within, Silent Hill, etc.
Pros:
-Decent scares, not too predictable and the eerie horror vibe as you explore is well done
-Good pacing and duration (5-10ish hours)
-Decent amount of optional content
-Really great sound design and music for the good horror atmosphere (with the exception of the music used to build tension that goes on too long, sometimes repeats if finished and doesn't match the scripting/pacing of the area it's used in)
-Good voice acting (not much spoken dialogue in the game - mostly voice recordings and some characters you meet)
-Decent variety of monsters/creatures (nothing you haven't seen in other horror games though)
-Good boss fights
-Decent world building (readable notes/documents are informative and concise)
-Getting all achievements can easily be done in one play through with not much added input needed over a normal play through (follow a guide to cover the few potential missable achievements)
-Very responsive and helpful developer
-Optional content unlocks more weapons, blueprints and utility items to incentivize exploring
Cons:
-Fairly demanding hardware requirements for higher settings
-Not great optimisation. FPS fluctuates between areas/rooms or sometimes within the same area.
-Mixed graphics fidelity. The lighting and effects make the distant view look photo realistic while nearby grass looks like it's from a PS2 game.
-Crashes: Only once while Alt + Tabbed
-Bugs: Non-responsive main menu when changing resolution (as though the scaling changed and menu items weren't where they appeared) - fixed with a restart. Seems I picked up this game after a lot of bugs were fixed and the dev has been very proactive in fixing things and helping players
-Lack of proofreading: Lots of typos, grammar mistakes, extra letters, missing letters, missing punctuation marks, missing spaces, etc.
-Melee weapon durability indication seems pretty arbitrary to work out when it will be break (how much blood is on the weapon)
-Can be a bit easy to get lost on what you need to do and Notes and Journal don't help much
-Awkward inventory system and item distribution (you'll get plenty of extras of items you don't need but ammo reserves hit the carry limit very quickly)
-Barely any content in the mini open world between main areas (I'm not referring to optional POIs around the open world). There's the occasional enemy, storm event, and occasional melee weapon or bit ammo but they're hard to see and find). Seems inspired by Evil Within 2 but not done nearly as well (but I believe it can get there).
Neutral:
-Awkward default controls & options - Zoomed sprint POV, quick turn, aim assists, etc. - Luckily all can be turned off
-Character moves so much with melee attacks
-Melee is a lot more viable compared to most horror games but guns feel less impactful
-At times looks great, at other times looks very much like an asset flip. Can't quite say how but it lacks the kind of polish you'd see from a more well known developer
-Simple crafting system similar to Evil Within games, just require finding blueprints to craft new things
-Simple puzzles and clues (with one clue found that seems straight up wrong - unsure if this was intentional or an oversight)
-Game introduces various other mechanics which seem to have little to no impact on game play, at least on standard difficulty:
Objects physics meaning you can pick and throw objects as well as move them when moving into them. The latter of these is a small part of a stealth part of the game to avoid making noise but you never need to pick and throw objects.
The other is a Nausea system that causes your player to throw up and requires pills to stop. Happened only one at the beginning of the game which I'm pretty sure is scripted to introduce the mechanic and only once later.
