Eden Genesis is a good Dustforce clone with more of an emphasis on story. I enjoyed the movement and challenging level design, but grew to really hate the combat levels and intrusive narrative. I just would rather try to complete normal platforming levels as fast as possible than be forced to complete combat levels just to be able to progress the campaign. I struggled to 100% these stages without getting hit once or losing my multiplier to unlock the two other tickets out of three. I just don't enjoy them and don't find the combat very good. There's not much impact or depth to it. Platforming is this title's bread and butter and should really focus more on that instead in my opinion. The art style just isn't my thing. This is entirely subjective, but I don't like the character design of Leah. She looks ridiculous. Her outfit looks like something out of The Fifth Element with neon colors. The character designs look too digital to me like something you'd see on Deviant Art with stiff looking animations. Backgrounds look great though. The writing is just not very good either. The dialogue has just an overabundance of swears that sound very forced. I curse like a sailor myself, but I'm also aware that it just comes naturally. This doesn't sound natural. Conversations interrupt gameplay when you're in the hub and go on and on with no way to skip. There's also a lot of obvious references to other sci-fi properties like Akira and Ghost in the Shell. That's fine, but the way Leah outright says something along the lines of "it wouldn't be cyerbpunk without Chinese food and neon lights" is so strange and self-aware it became distracting. The movement has its annoyances like the stomp being interrupted by ceiling running with no way to stomp from the ceiling to the ground. Controls are a bit loose as well. Not quite as tight and responsive as Dustforce DX with the stomp being the most inconsistent. That's another thing. This is a blatant Dustforce clone through and through, but it's not as challenging or as well designed, and the art is more appealing in Dustforce in my opinion. This is a decent game for precision platformer fans like myself, but nothing special and I just don't feel the desire to another arena level. I really don't like them. I'm sorry.

For what it is, EG is an excellent experience. Precision platforming as an art and a science. Would I have liked the experience to be more cohesive? Yes. But if that's my biggest complaint, then Aeternum has fulfilled their purpose.

Majority of the game is a fun game to play when your just sitting around and bored; however, multiple of the level designs make me regret ever purchasing this game.
