Truck Racer is a competent arcade racer for $1.45AUD (on sale) although it has issues.
Truck Racer has a decent amount of tracks and gamemodes although the more complex track layouts become available during the championship mode around 2 hours in. The AI are chaotic and at times barely functional by running into walls, gaining insane speed around corners or failing to match the speeds of the player; the AI also near constantly emit large plumes of smoke when taking corners that obstruct the players view if nearby.
Truck racer has a small selection of trucks that ultimately don't matter when you upgrade them. The game has both road and dirt circuits with upgrades dedicated to each of them, certain trucks will have an affiliation to one of these track types but you can choose to ignore that if you prefer a certain cab and purchase their upgrades accordingly. The games economy allows you to purchase and upgrade these trucks swiftly at the cost of races becoming a breeze due to the poor AI, therefor if you wish to maintain a level of challenge you will need to hinder yourself by avoiding upgrades until needed.
The most surprising aspect of TR is the vehicle destruction that flings anything that isn't the cab off the truck onto the circuit during impacts; this is amplified by the chaotic AI's debris remaining on track during races, reminiscent of mid 2000's racing titles.
note: The default keybinds are pretty awful but you can rebind them in the game settings. It uses Q to accelerate & W to reverse/brake, very "unique" default decision.
Conclusion
Despite the issues I've listed above I do believe Truck Racer is worth playing if you want a simple alternate arcade racer that you can get a few hours out of. It's $1.45AUD on sale and I think what it offers is worth that price but it is nowhere near worth the full price of purchase.

A simple, straightforward arcade racer. Easy to understand upgrade system geared towards specializing in dirt or paved racetracks. Fun!
