Playtime: 44 minutes
First 40 min of gameplay: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7lwCwK_zTsM I thought that this was going to be a pretty neat little rhythm game with a bunch of the little minigames displayed in the trailer. It turns out that the mini games in the trailer is the extent of the "gameplay". The rest is like a sandbox where you can set rhythms/patterns for your animal band to follow, sequentially hitting any of the objects which make different noises in the "overworld". It just wasn't very fun and I think I reached the limit of gameplay in the 40 minuites I spent. I think that there is some real creativity here - and I think that it's a neat idea - but I don't think the execution pans out properly. Would've been a lot more engaging, I think, if it had a LOT more mini games and each mini game unlocked a new item for the band to play with. I also think that the items I "unlocked" through the mystery box (??) all made sounds that didn't sound good - rubber ducks, soda bottles, etc all have their place, but you should start with like, basic instruments and work your way up to weirdness. I also didn't like that you had to essentially grind the minigames to unlock new items - seemed like 1 minigame p/item, and there's only 5 minigames. The dev clearly cared about this game - and I think drew all the art AND made all the music/sound effects - but at the end of the day it just wasn't fun to play, and there was no real satisfying objective. If the objective was to make cool songs with your band, I couldn't find a path towards it. It also, generally, seemed kinda broken ("trial mode" in the bottom right) and seemed like features were upcoming, even though this just got OUT of early access. A decent first stab at games, but I think that that passion that went into this could be better spent making something with more depth.
