The Dev got upset with me when I asked a tiny little thing, present in most games, wargame or not: if there is a SAVE system. Know some people can, some can't save - I'm in the latter group. Own EVERY Frontline game - uninstalled them all immediately.

I bought the game on sale for less than €10 and my expectations were accordingly low. The release date is given as January 5th, 2024, the graphics overall are more reminiscent of "Panzer General 3D" and when assessing the complexity, which starts with the strategic board game Risk on the lower end and ends with grand strategy games like "Gary Grigsby's War in the East" or "Hearts of Iron" on top, I see it as closer to Risk. Since the constant clicking in Grand Strategy titles often gets too annoying for me, I was hoping for an easier approach here, which at least was not disappointed. Overall, it offers relatively entertaining gaming if you like these types of games without much depth and want to play casually. I played through a campaign at the "normal" level - which took some hours - and started other campaigns and missions at higher levels to see the difference. In the game itself, which is basically no different from any other turn-based strategy game, the supply of new soldiers and fuel/ammunition does play a role, which adds a bit of depth but is not the big challenge. In higher levels of the game, the enemies do not become more intelligent - as is unfortunately the case everywhere else too - but just stronger and it becomes more difficult to manage reinforcements and supplies, as the income is lowered. However, the reason why the Soviet Union stationed troops in the middle of the Black Sea probably has less to do with the AI intelligence of its virtual field marshals than with bad programming. Refer to https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3319995846 However, my main criticism is the presentation, the operation/UI and ultimately the performance. Does a game of 2024 really need to use the practically identical unit-icons as literally Panzer General 40 years ago? Furthermore, I don't expect graphical masterpieces in the game or mouseover pop-ups to explain things and/or functions, but placing the most important buttons to use in game with a bright explanatory one-liner on the start screen in such a way that it looks as if a graphics apprentice had a Commodore 64 at his disposal can be representative of the graphic presentation. In addition - a single point that particularly stands out for me - the screen edge scrolling is reminiscent of the years when Panzer General was first developed, although I wonder why, because the Unity platform with which the game was made does manage smooth, fast scrolling. And yes, you can also scroll with mouse button and movement, so why is there screen edge scrolling at all, if it is slow? You can like it or accept it, but you don't have to, which is why my last criticism of the 1.86 GB game is that the game gets slower and stutters as the campaign progresses and there are more units on the map. And that's on a PC that doesn't even struggle much with high-end games like "Jedi: Survivor". Unfortunately, only 49/100, 51 would have been positive.

I'm on the edge with this game. I have 2 previous games from them which play easier and have better graphics and terrain. The actual troop and vehicle models of world at war are pretty good but the terrain compared to the previous games is lackluster and poorly defined. The scrolling movement is done by using the left mouse button which is not smooth at all. IF you just push the mouse around to scroll it is smoother but painfully slow. There is no map to view to set up your strategy. You can zoom out to get a better view of the battlefield. The actual battles are pretty good and the maps are very large. There is a lot of content but the presentation needs work. Aircraft movement it not realistic at all. They seem to fly in a grid pattern instead of straight . I could easily give this a thumbs down. The price was good and I am hopeful they will make improvements.

Immersing players in a captivating World War II setting, this game provides an enjoyable tactical turn-based strategy. The visuals are not only pleasant but also boast distinguishable unit models. Welcome back !

This game has potential once it is finished, but for now it is just a shell. There are no defined Country borders, no diplomacy, no air units in the campaign mode, and no definitive manual to explain units and game play. It is akin to an old SSI game Storm Across Europe and Panzer General, but again it is unfinished. The units available in the game are rendered well. Don't bother with this until it is done. I believe the designer and publisher are trying to drum up funds to put into this, but as it stands now it is just a sandbox game, without a goal for the player.
