I only played for a short while and oh boy, what a hot mess. During my initial purchase I missed that this included AI-generated content, so that was a surprise. I honestly don't think it added anything interesting to the game because there isn't any charm here at all, it feels really mechanical. Not something I'd pick up again or recommend.

Absolutely awful. One of the worst games I have ever played. To begin with, this game is focused on wokeness and the advocacy of gender pronouns. By the time you reach the third case, speaking with characters gets confusing because they start referring to a single character as "they" and "them." I got into several heated conversations with these AI characters about why we are using gender pronouns to refer to a single character. And they all got down right angry at me with scowled faces as they informed me that this certain character identifies as non-binary and that I needed to be accepting of this immediately. While trying to ignore this aspect of the game I encountered several other issues such as the game crashing to the desktop after selecting a murderer, player movement being too fast, and cutscenes dropping the frame rate down into the 30s. And if you think it could be fun saying some inappropriate things to these AI characters, think again. They all reply by only telling you that you are being inappropriate and that's it. The graphics are also very outdated, there is only one graphic setting of low to high, you cannot remap the controls, there is no mouse sensitivity or fov slider, and some areas cause the screen to flicker when getting too close to the walls. There is also no save function because each case is timed. That's right. You only have a matter of minutes before you are prompted to choose a murderer. And then once you do, there is a good possibility that the game will crash. By my second crash, I was done with this awful experience. I would stay away from this mess and I most certainly cannot recommend it.

We're tasked with solvin murders/crime in various scenarios. There is a solid number of scenarios. The game uses AI voice and chat to bring the various NPCs to life. I kinda don't like that the scenarios are timed. it creates a sense of urgency but still. I think it's fine for the price with what's on offer. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/2k3_go4Go2g

This is a game with more cons than pros, but what pros there are carry the whole thing. Cons: Lacks polish Crashed two or three times during my first session playing it Has a fair few bugs - sometimes you have to approach a character a couple of times before triggering their dialogue, sometimes there's no cursory on the end-game screen meaning you have to force close the game Sometimes the AI goes off on crazy tangents, including an innocent character gleefully confessing to the murder Sometimes difficult to get characters to actually answer the questions you put to them Characters' AI can break so they won't respond at all UI could be better and more intuitive Some controls aren't mapped to the keys the intro tells you they are Very sparse in-game options and could really do with some to modify the mouse sensitivity and motion blur Pros: Some of the stories at least are well laid out and a fun challenge to figure out The biggest one of all is that the concept is fantastic and talking to/messing with the AI is a lot of fun So yeah, expect a bit of a janky mess but if you go into it just wanting some silly fun with AI and a mystery to solve it's a good time.

Game is got really great environment design and layout. No bugs ghosting through the walls or objects. I love seeing new smaller derringers coming out with games that offer more then the typical AAA studios re hash. This game is great for those who love detective shows. Feels like a immersive version of CLUE ! and for an indie game under $15 bucks wasn't bad at all.

The idea, premise and promise of this game could have been great, but they completely ruined the experience with the dreaded timer! Once you're just finding your way around, learning the rooms and characters, the times suddenly just snaps out of the actions. Lame. Make it optional at least! Developers are you listening?

So far the game is really interesting and fun to play, I can definitely see some interesting gameplays coming out of this. Initially I thought that I wouldn't get into it, to this point I've only played the first one, but It got me fixed to the point I really used all my time to get as many clues I could as I didn't want to miss it, and I was able to solve the murder, even tho it was not super easy. I'll definitely play the other stories, and I'm also curious about the potential of having different gameplays with the AI chat.

--This game has a lot of promise. It's mostly open-ended interrogations where you're typing in (usually outlandish) questions and accusations and the AI characters try to keep up. This feels much more natural than any AI-generated writing I've seen in a mystery game before, and clearly there's a huge opportunity here beyond what a writer can achieve with multiple-choice answers in a linear script like most standard mystery games use. The AI does a very good job rolling with questions predictable and unpredictable. For example, I found blood-stained gloves and my leading suspect admitted they were his. He had a suitably creepy and sometimes clever answer for these questions: ----"It's warm weather out, why do you have gloves on set?" ----"What were your blood-soaked gloves doing in someone else's bedroom? You don't have to answer if you're like a midwife or something." ----"Nostradamus foretold that these gloves would bring nothing but murder and syphilis. Have you been tested recently?" ----"You are wearing a t-shirt and shorts. Literally the only reason you have gloves is that you're a plumber or a serial killer, and I don't see any ****ing pipes on you." ----"If you talk back one more time, I will go off on you like Sherlock Holmes' dog playing fetch with his opium." ----"If you could say anything to the killer, what would it be? Also, pretend that it's someone else, obviously." If you enjoy confronting NPCs and pushing them to the limit with hallucinatory allegations and midwifing advice and doubtful sexual boasts, this is EXACTLY the mystery you will love. Otherwise, skip it, the cases are lame as hell on any sort of normal playthrough. --Evidence collection is a miss. It feels like I'm checking the same ~10 drawers over and over. --The player only gets asked to pick a killer, but there's only ~5 suspects in each case and only 1-2 of them have even the slightest motive. It's pretty thin. All of the cases I've seen are 100% solved on motive, which gets repetitive. In a more complex video game, a murder whodunnit might be a sequence of like 3-6 events (or even as many as ~12 for Donganronpa), and we eliminate some suspects or advance through the story by figuring out what happened in each stage.
(Maybe their alibi doesn't give them enough time to have committed the crime, or they're not physically capable enough to have strangled the victim, or aren't on good enough terms that the victim would have invited them in).
In this game, we have 0-event murders where the cause of death is not discussed, the time is not discussed, the crime scene is not discussed, even the player character is not discussed, all we have is establishing which suspect had a plausible motive to commit murder. It's more a proof of concept for AI dialogue than a whodunnit, I think.
Disclaimer: I write mystery books for five year olds and I don't think even they would go for cases this thin. This game is much less about solving crimes, and more about confronting suspects with wild-eyed revelations and hallucinatory accusations, which frankly was a lot of fun.
. --In a game with more detailed cases, it'd be pretty common to ask questions beyond just who the killer is. For example, "How did the killer get through the door?" or "Why didn't the dog bark?" or "Who is the killer's accomplice?" In this game's cases, there's no dogs, no accomplices, no doors, the solutions are exceptionally thin. Like, you find a guy's bloody gloves, and he admits they're his, and that's enough to correctly accuse him of obviously being the murderer. :-/ --There are some unnatural dialogue moments where characters forget what they've told you. PRODUCER: there's been tension over script changes. ME: What script changes? PRODUCER: "Script changes? What script changes?" But generally the AI does a good job maintaining internal consistency. --Moving around the mansion is rough. The blur is so high, I blame the opium --Game has crashed twice in 2 hours of playtime. Going up stairs is surprisingly difficult. Opening cabinets takes some getting used to.
