A cool little top down shooter. No story, but it's clearly an arcade game so I didn't expect one. The leveling system seems balanced and the only criticism I have is for the unit pathing in some levels where units get locked in areas you can't target them.

This is a weird one. I actually quite liked those games when they came out all those years ago. Probably even beat one of them (don't know any more witch one). But since then I have played a lot of games, better ones, even in this arena defence* genre, and the RIP games have not aged well. Perhaps a remake would be nice, with a silly title like RIP Retrology where old levels and ideas are recreated on a new game engine with some new elements thrown in. This could work. 6/10 *I actually don't know, if that is the correct term.

Cute little tower shooter that admittedly isnt great, but if you are looking for a game that harkens back to the early 00's era of flash games, this is it.

The RIP Trilogy are basic shooter games. The first one is painful as you sit stationary, and have to shoot enemies as they approach from all directions. The second and third are twin stick shooters that are more comical than anything else. The second one is fair, but the third one is was incredibly easy until a train decided to derail and chase me, which was the most hillarious moment I had in the game. I died instantly, which was totally worth it. If you like twin stick shooters, try Smash TV, Robotron, Hotline Miami, and just about anything else. After you tried them all, come check this out just for a good laugh.

The first one is boring, the second terrible, and the third mediocre. The story sounds like it was written by a 14 year old, in Russian, then ran through BabelFish. Not worth it, even at this low a price.

The game is fun, but has 2 big issue. The mouse movement seems to be terrible, it often fails to pick up movements. The tanks hp seems to be broken as the game is about impossible to beat without lowering their health in the files.

Simple arcade shooter that does not fit everyone's taste. I like all three games from trilogy even if I most like to play first or third one and not so much second. This retro feel is my liking and characters are cool.

The RIP Trilogy, along with the other Meridian4 games, are among the first games I've bought here on Steam. Most games published by Meridian4 are 'OK' games. As far as I know none of the games are amazing but none of them are garbage aswell. Same goes for the RIP trilogy. The RIP Trilogy, obviously exists of three games: -RIP -RIP2:Strike Back -RIP3:The Last Hero All three games are pretty much the same; Kill all spawning enemies, Pick up powerups/weapons and level up. The only real difference I can come up with would be the fact you controll a stationary base cannon in RIP(1), whereas in the other two games you'll be able to walk around and in later in the game, you will be able to controll vehicles. Gameplay is standard but fun and quite addictive. You could compare it to 'Crimsonland' which, most likely took this game as an example. The weird thing though, while many people rate Crimsonland positively, I do not get the negative ratings about this trilogy. It's obvious a lot more work has been involved in the RIP-Trilogy compared to Crimsonland, just look at the screenshots. The RIP-Trilogy is not perfect and it's not for everyone but I believe fans of the genre won't be dissapointed.

I've written three reviews for this trilogy now, as I've played through the three games. They get a lot of hate on here, but I don't know why. Yes, they're a bit... 90s... But RIP1 and 3 are great.. Huge sprites, challenging levels... Think of it as a mobile defense game, or a twin-stick shooter, but with the sprite-drawing power of a proper computer.... The sprites are so large they make me think of the Neo-Geo... RIP1 is a pretty easy game. It took me an hour or so to complete. You're a turret somewhere on the screen and things run at you and try to destroy you. Occasionally a skeleton runs by withe a blue orb you can click or shoot to give a buff or a weapon. In RIP1 you switch to the new weapon and the old one is discarded, which can be a bit of a shame sometimes. All in all, I really enjoyed it. RIP2 is a mess. Level balance is all over the place, there are glitches and you just have to hack the game to progress. If you don't , you CAN get through, but it's a massive exercise in frustration, even on "normal" difficulty. I'd skip RIP2, even though it adds more weps and buffs, and allows you to move around instead of being a fixed turret. RIP3 is a brilliant ending to the trilogy. You can move around, there's a story, there's some really REALLY nice weapons, the enemies are really varied and the levels (mostly) balance well. It's got a huge amount of variability and some MAAAAHOOOSIVE sprites flying around all over the place. A seriously solid little game, and good fun to play through. Took me about 2 hours to finish. All in all, I'm giving this series a thumbs-up, but that's entirely due to RIP1 and 3. RIP2 needs some love to be good, but the developer seems to have abandoned the project, and questions remain unanswered in the community hub. The sounds are repetitive, as is the music, the resolution is low and the gameplay a bit repetitive. However, for a quick blast of fun, have a go and see how far you get. Then take a breather, work out a new strategy and try again. The games DO need some strategy, it's not simply point-and-shoot. RIP3 especially gives you a few weps to choose from. One is almost always useless, but the other two you have are usually good to get the job done. Lots of fun, recommended, especially RIP3.

I can easily, EASILY say that the RIP Trilogy are some of the worst games I've ever played. They are the secret shame of my Steam library. The graphics are amateurish, the gameplay forgettable, the story could have been written better by an eleven-year old. Do yourself a favor and play Crimsonland, or some other good game of this genre. Even if this is on sale for a dollar, you'd get more enjoyment physically lighting a dollar on fire, and watching the brief flame.
