An absolute THRILL to play!
F-Zero GX is probably my favorite racing game of all time, and nothing else felt like it was a contender for that title until I played XF! The sense of crazy high-speeds is done perfectly, and feels even better with the with a fantastic soundtrack! I'm also a real big fan of the track design, the F-Zero inspiration is displayed proudly on some of them, but there's also some great new types of tracks such as ones with offroad and water that keep the gameplay feeling varied and fresh. Also love the design of the RAM/Overboost system, it adds a layer of strategic risk/reward where you want to keep a boost chain going for as long as possible for maximum speed, but also you might want to save some boost in case you crash and need a quick recovery!
This game has been an absolute blast to play, and if it's this awesome in early access I'm SO hyped for the final release! A must-play for anyone who's a fan of goin fast!

I really hope this trend of "Fine I'll do it myself" never dies. Thank you Feperd for filling the F-Zero-shaped hole in my heart.

A year in, it's still very early access. The game shows the basic controls and tips before the menu is available (but it doesn't mention combat moves). The menu is 4:3 and has so much content locked. Basic GP modes are locked behind a sprawling, boring, and repetitive tutorial section with several typos and errors. It claims that slowing down will increase your turning radius. I shouldn't have to practice for 15 minutes just to play a standard tournament race. I went to single tracks, first attempt I beat 2nd place by a minute (in a 4 minute race) and lapped most of the 30 other racers. That seems crazy for an F-Zero style race. Next race I bumped up one tier of difficulty, and came in 21st, 25 seconds behind 1st. All the racers drove a perfect line to hit every boost and held that lead.
And if I wanted to try another vehicle, I'd have to complete GP cups on higher difficulties, after grinding tutorials to unlock more content. Wish it wasn't so far off the mark.

Fast-paced, nice-looking, and not that hard to learn (but challenging to master).
I've been in love for this game ever since I stumbled across it on YouTube, and MAN, did the love only grow stronger after I bought it. If you like pure speed with nice track designs and soundtracks, buy this game!
Also it runs in a GT 730 just fine, so it's really well optimized :D

as of this review I've unlocked all vehicles requiring cups to be beaten on "intense" difficulty for the arcade tournaments. the game is incredibly fun with a great sense of speed and graphics that fit the vibe and aesthetic very well. the game definitely warrants the early access tag as I think there's some balance issues to be figured out with the various vehicles and some maps that should be reworked to have better flow but overall worth a purchase if you like AG racers like redout or ballisticNG. it's the same feel with less mechanics to balance and a special touch that makes it really fun to play. the 26 CAD price point is already very good for what you get right now but amazing when (if) further content becomes available. the addition of local split screen is a bonus (though I do think online lobbies in the future would be a great addition so as not to rely on streaming services such as steam remote play or parsec)
overall for a racing game I give it like an 8ish/10 definitely stuff that needs to be ironed out but amazing for what it already is

I enjoy this game, but be aware that there is very little content at the moment. It has a lot of potential which is why I am recommending it, but I'll revisit the game after there is more to do.

Fantastic game. phenomenal. scratches the itch left by a certain other racing game with similar design.
i think my only complaint is for the controller-side gameplay. specifically that i can't adjust sensitivity/deadzone or button mapping. I'm so used to using triggers for stop and go and it cramps my thumb to use the button pad (not the d-pad) for all the acceleration mechanics due to how its default mapping is. Keyboard is fine, and in my opinion much easier to use than controller for these reasons. i know its meant to be played on controller, but at the very least, button mapping might be a good idea to add at least on controller side for players that are used to console racing games.
still 10/10 game would highly recommend
