This game absolutely bricked my computer.
It crashed like 2 times during the introduction to the game. I was not even able to leave the jail cell scene and my shit was ruined. I couldn't open up any vital windows programs or uninstall this game without it being a headache.
Currently running a gtx 4070 (no this is not a joke). If anyone else encounters this please update your graphics card drivers and uninstall the game and resart your P.C.
Fuck you Jack, you ruined my Christmas Eve.

The movement capture and the lively animation really surprised me. After double checking I read the game was released in 2012, yet it holds up well to today’s standards. The full audio support and absolutely stunning soundtrack stand out, honestly, I could just stay and listen to the saxophone.
Before I get into the gameplay, I want to congratulate the dev team on the superb motion capture. They did a really neat job. For instance, when Jack climbs a ladder, you can see him struggling and then gripping the ladder tightly. The same attention to detail goes into other actions like slapping people or getting into a car, and even the NPCs' reactions feel real.
The game feels old-school, and it sticks to the classic features like no item highlights and limited hints, which honestly, isn’t exactly user friendly. The first location aka Jack’s apartment has a hidden key under the carpet, finding it isn't too hard because the cursor changes to an interaction arrow when you're close. However, getting the pistol from the drawer is trickier. The cursor doesn’t change, and the first click on the drawer doesn’t do anything.
The game expands when Jack gets his car and starts moving to new locations. I liked the little detail of Jack's car stopping at every corner even if there is no stop sign. For items, I quickly realized that the pistol is mostly a decorative item, it doesn’t seem to actually scare anyone for info or for money. Speaking of money, when I tried to buy info or a beer, people just took my money as a free gift rather than giving a trade. In the end I had no money left but a lot of random trash in my pockets, that is I picked up everything I saw on the ground: a cigar butt, an apple core, a banana peel, broken glass… Luckily Jack has a deep pocket to hold, but I laugh out loud when an NPC comments on me picking up trash.
The game mechanics were a bit of a mystery to me. I'm not an expert at point-and-click games and I found myself lost in the downtown area, unsure of what to do next. There are some interesting dialogues, but they didn’t really advance the story. I couldn’t get access to the secret casino even though I knew the location. Besides, it seemed like Jack knew who to talk to, as he’d mention names of strangers but I didn’t. After 3 hours I decided to stop. Normally I would’ve quit much sooner, but this game is so charming that I played longer than I intended, and I wasn’t too bothered by the slow pace of the story.
Can’t say I understand much about the story, but the game is still a pleasure to play nonetheless.
