I legitimately wanted to like this game, and I really did my best to play as much of it as I could before I ultimately gave up.
The problem starts with the tutorial. It sets up this cool mechanic that's literally never used ever again, and I kind of feel cheated on that front.
What you actually get is a game where every level has wildly different mechanics that you need to learn from scratch, which could have been fine. I mean, I was willing to put up with it. But the "choose your own adventure" nature to the game meant that the majority of the endings don't feel rewarding. In fact it often felt like I was being tricked into making mistakes that wasted my time.
And don't get me started on the quicktime events.
Maybe that's why I'm ultimately salty. Solving the puzzles didn't make me feel accomplished; it just made me feel like I avoided punishment. And I can't abide by that.
