Mfs not only managed to transform this game into always online only (the 30 days online check is bs, and you can't defend it, Blizzard fanboys), but also forced me to buy this game twice (I had the base game on Battlenet, but I refuse to use their ♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher. So, all in all, I am the idiot.

I've been playing Diablo 2 for nearly 25 years, and somehow this game still finds ways to keep me coming back. With the release of Reign of the Warlock, I'm enjoying Diablo 2 more now than I have in years. The new expansion feels like it was made by people who understand why so many of us have stayed loyal to this game for decades. The quality-of-life improvements are excellent—they modernize the experience without taking away what makes Diablo 2 special. I was especially excited for the new Warlock class. After the recent balance adjustments, it feels strong without being overpowered. It has its own identity, offers interesting build options, and fits naturally alongside the original classes. It's incredible that after 25 years, Diablo 2 is still evolving while staying true to its roots. If you've been a longtime fan, this expansion is absolutely worth playing. And if you've somehow never experienced Diablo 2 before, there's never been a better time to start. 25 years later, and I'm still saying "just one more run."

When Diablo 2 was originally released, I didn't get around to playing it until some years later, and by that time I was already used to playing games at a higher resolution. I couldn't get the original to run above 800x600 dpi, and I gave up on it very quickly. Years later when studios started remastering games, I thought Diablo 2 would be the perfect candidate. I got my wish here in 2026, and I can safely say it was worth the wait. I'm a fairly lazy gamer, I don't like to dink around with settings that much. I like to sit down, double click the game icon, and start playing. Based on my computer, all settings were maxed from the beginning. The game looks amazing at 1080p or 1440. It looks like the lighting effects have all been updated, and the game runs smooth as silk. The only issue I had was getting into Battle.net to start playing. I haven't touched that website since playing WOW well over a decade ago. After figuring out the login and initial setup, it's been pain free so far. I'm about to finish the 2nd chapter and haven't had a single hiccup to speak of. As far as where Diablo 2 belongs in the ARPG hierarchy now that I've put some time into it, I don't think it surpasses Grim Dawn, as I like the inventory size and itemization much better in that game. But the story, locales, music, along with the classic hacking and slashing are still top notch, and worthy of a play in 2026. I haven't tried an online campaign yet, I may down the line, after I finish the main story. Perhaps Blizzard Entertainment hasn't made the best choices with the Diablo franchise through the years, but I can appreciate this remaster, and I think anyone who missed it back in the day will as well.

This DRM thing has to go, I bought the game and sunk the hours into it which are currently logged and displayed. So there's no possible reason to sit here and think I'm pirating it or that I've refunded it... I take my steam deck with me everywhere even though I don't always play this game it is still there with over 40 hours of play time. I don't want to have to connect to an internet connection to play my damn game that I paid $40 for that I mostly play alone. And to do what exactly, verify I still own it? That defeats the damn purpose. I love the Diablo series very much, but this is something that I will not support by any means and I'll gladly say screw you to blizzard, especially when it comes to OverWatch 😂

Cannot play the game I purchased and own unless I log in online and verify my license. Instant no, do not buy this. Sail the high seas.

Why does it require a useless 30 year old battle.net account to even play? They need to just accept steam won and embrace the steam cloud options for saves.

Classic game, I played this on the cds i played it on battle.net, i bought and played it here. 9/10 But if battle.net can import my characters and carry over my account, why can't i just play the game I already own on battle.net on steam? Why do I have to buy it again? Is this skyrim? I now own like 4 editions of this game lol.

I love diablo 2, I love this remake, but blizzard can choke on a bag of rancid roaches for forcing you to be online to play this game properly on the steam deck, which is why I bought this game. There's no cloud saves at all, so your offline characters don't get transferred from pc to deck. As for online if your wifi isn't good then there's a 1 second delay between picking up an item and it actually registering. There's also this stupid online check which forces you to login at least once every 30 days otherwise you're not allowed to play the game you purchased. Why even have an offline mode if you won't allow me to stay offline? I just want to play the stupid game without being nagged all the time jfc
