It's definitely a SUDA51 game

The game is fun. But it's too short and bugged, had to reload checkpoint at least 3 times.

One of the most based games I have ever played but I don’t think I can finish it thanks to how motion sick the Fleming boss fight makes me

Great game! Would rate it about 4.5/5 stars if I could. First time playing it and I played it all the way through in the same day (~11 hours w/ distractions). It definitely gives the feeling of the Xbox 360/PS3 era games. A bit raunchy, the controls are unique to the game (not in a bad way), the story is serviceable, and the game adds new things as you go but let's you master the mechanics it has introduced earlier in the game. I think I will go through the game again on new game plus since the game is so short, so replayability is there. Only knocking a half star off because one part I feel could have been done once and not the couple more times it shows up (avoiding spoilers), and I feel like the last boss could have been more creative. Pick this one up if you catch it on sale for sure!

Quick thoughts on this port: It's kind of s,hitty, I think its main issue is mainly performance problems. I had some really bad stuttering issues during cutscenes where I kept thinking if my game was going to freeze but it never did. One of the cutscenes that would stutter really hard is during one of those chase sequences where Garcia gets chased by his girlfriend and gets caught by her. The game for some reason struggles to play the captured animation and stutters the game hard. I also had weird stuttering issues in some certain areas usually in the later sections of the game where I couldn't navigate the upgrade menu very well. You are probably better off finding and purchasing an old copy of this game on either the PS3 or XBOX 360 if you still have those old consoles. The only things you will be missing from this version from what I understand are a few new alternative costumes and I think a better resolution. Also I don't know if this is true or not but apparently this game hasn't gotten any updates since its release on Steam to fix issues and it probably won't. Thoughts on the game: Very weird third person shooter that plays similar to Resident Evil 4 or Dead space with very vulgar and crude humor. Shadows of the Damned shooting has a heavy emphasis on precision aiming where the guns do not have a crosshair in the center of the screen but rather a laser pointer from the gun that you use to aim where to shoot just like RE4 and Dead Space. Speaking of guns this game only has three which is a hand gun, a machine gun, and a shotgun although they do get upgrades everytime you kill bosses in the game. Originally Shadows of the Damned was going to be a survival horror game called Kurayami that Suda51 wanted to create with a light a darkness mechanic. But apparently he was pressured by this games publisher which unfortunately was EA (Electronic Arts) into turning it into a linear horror action shooter RE4 clone. Kurayami was apparently also supposed to be a Kafka inspired game, some aspects of Kurayami was repurposed into Shadows of the Damned such as its light and dark mechanic and I think its hispanic male main character, except Shadows of the Damned doesn't have anything Kafka related in it. Although Shadows of the Damned is a pretty good game, its original inception might have been an even more interesting game if Suda51 wasn't pressured into changing it to a much different game. The light and darkness mechanic plays an important role in the game, basically sometimes in certain sections of the game it gets enshrouded in darkness and when you are in darkness you start to lose health. The way you can solve the darkness problem is either by escaping the dark areas or by shooting goat heads which for some reason removes the darkness entirely. Sometimes darkness can also get enshrouded onto enemies which renders them invulnerable, your gun has a special ability to shoot some sort of fire or light beam that can dispel darkness off of enemies so you can kill them. In dark areas you cannot dispel darkness off of enemies with the light beam attack, you need to either remove the darkness from the area or leave the dark area and lure the enemy out of it. You might not like the games sense of humor, sometimes it can be too excessively crude and stupid for example the "sushi fish" sound like they are genuinely r,etarded or the games boner jokes. The only other Suda51 game I played through was Lollipop Chainsaw, I kind of get the feeling Suda51 games are more style over substance. Personally I would rather play Dead Space or RE4 or maybe even RE5 over this game but its still good. I mainly recommend this game for how bizzare it can get just to experience it. However I recommend getting it during a sale since its sort of a short game, its like 6-7 hours long with not much replayability other than maybe replaying the whole game on a higher difficulty. Also this game likes to just hand out Steam achievements? I played through this game once so far and I have like over 70 percent of them unlocked lol with just 6 hours of gameplay.
