In the vast landscape of internet lore, there exists a phenomenon that captures the imagination like no other - the enigmatic and mysterious realm known as the backrooms. A surreal journey through the labyrinthine corridors of this digital underworld reveals a tapestry of intrigue, fear, and fascination. As a self-proclaimed adventurer of the virtual unknown, I find myself irresistibly drawn to the uncanny allure of the backrooms.
The backrooms, a seemingly endless network of interconnected, dilapidated rooms and hallways, have become a digital subculture, with tales of exploration and eerie encounters spreading like wildfire across forums and social media. What is it about this bizarre concept that has ignited the curiosity of so many internet denizens, including myself?
First and foremost, the backrooms tap into the primal human instinct for exploration. The idea of wandering through forgotten, decaying spaces, each room with its own unique atmosphere, beckons to the inner adventurer in all of us. The sense of the unknown, the anticipation of what might be around the next corner, fuels the excitement and adrenaline of the virtual explorer.
The sheer creativity and diversity within the backrooms contribute to their captivating nature. From desolate, flickering fluorescent lights to the unmistakable aroma of aged carpet, the vivid descriptions shared by fellow enthusiasts paint a vivid picture of an otherworldly environment. It's a world where reality blurs with fiction, and every room tells a story of its own.
What sets the backrooms apart is the community's commitment to storytelling and world-building. Through collaborative efforts, contributors weave intricate narratives that expand the lore of this digital universe. Each room becomes a chapter in an ever-growing anthology of the surreal, and the collective creativity gives rise to a sense of shared ownership among its participants.
The backrooms also serve as a canvas for artists and writers to showcase their talents. Striking visual representations, haunting poetry, and gripping short stories emerge, adding layers of depth to an already multifaceted landscape. The creative outpouring within the backrooms community transforms this internet phenomenon into a genuine form of artistic expression.
Moreover, the backrooms function as a space for introspection and self-discovery. The eerie ambiance and the sense of isolation within these virtual halls prompt contemplation on the nature of existence and reality. It's a digital pilgrimage that challenges one's perceptions and invites a deeper understanding of the self.
In my personal journey through the backrooms, I've found solace in the escapism it provides. The ability to immerse oneself in a world divorced from the constraints of reality offers a therapeutic retreat from the stresses of everyday life. It's a testament to the power of the human imagination, capable of constructing entire universes within the confines of a digital construct.
The backrooms, with their haunting aesthetic and rich narrative potential, also serve as a source of inspiration for other creative endeavors. Artists, writers, and even game developers draw upon the essence of the backrooms to craft their own interpretations, contributing to the ever-expanding legacy of this internet subculture.
In conclusion, the backrooms stand as a testament to the boundless creativity and collective spirit of the online community. As a virtual adventurer, I find myself enamored by the mystique and allure of this digital labyrinth. It's a journey into the unknown, a canvas for artistic expression, and a haven for those seeking an escape from the mundane. The backrooms, with their enigmatic charm, continue to captivate the hearts and minds of internet explorers, inviting them to lose themselves in the ever-expanding corridors of imagination. Overall 6/10.

If you're looking to buy a backrooms game, please for the love of god, look for something else, this game is the definition of ASS. Usually these backroom games on steam you can have fun with, either that be playing with friends, having some fun on your first playthrough, and they can be pretty fun to go back and replay/speedrun. But not Poly Backrooms, this game has some of the worst AI I've ever seen in a game, and worst of all, it's so boring and such a slog to play through. I can't even imagine playing this game by yourself, I played with a friend and we still found it super boring.
If you're looking to 100% this game, there's an achievement where you need to beat a level 20 times, and with this game being boring, it's such a slog to do that. Me and my friend could legit only do 1-2 runs a day, after that we'd just quit throughout the next run because we'd get so bored and frustrated out of our minds.
I know this game is in early access, but this game really should've been developed a lot more before releasing it to the public, especially with only three levels, and TWO enemies. I'll give the game this, the first level was pretty fun to play for the first time, but when you enter the second level, the game just goes down hill there, being the most tedious fetch quest set in a maze. And replaying the first level isn't any fun. Also the price of the game should really get cut down, even if it's already somewhat cheap.
If you are considering buying this game, I'd recommend any other backrooms game, me and my friend have played a couple backroom games, and this one is without a doubt the worst one by a landslide (that we've played mind you). There might be worst, but i highly doubt it, this game isn't even laughably bad, it's just plain garbage.
I'm sorry for the devs, but the artstyle of this game is pretty unique and I quite like it. This game really should've had much more put into it before releasing it. If the devs fix up the current levels, add some new levels, make new unique mobs, new objectives and polish the game more, I could really this see game becoming an actually really good backrooms game, but in the state it's in right now, it's far from the truth.
I really hope to see this game evolve over time so I could come back and update my review, but for now, I'd look elsewhere for a backrooms game.
