the protagonist's wheezing after running a short distance is the perfect metaphor to describe this game's shortcomings.
- walking simulator where you can't run long distances without stopping to pant, which feels accurate to the vulnerability of your character at the expense of artificially padding the runtime of this game
- enemies that kill you, leading to a game over state; until the game decides that the game over state is part of the story progression, by which case the story advances while confusing you as to whether any progress has been made
- enemies that encourage you to walk even slower in this already slow walking simulator
- the game progresses through dream-like logic, and is set in a dream-like space; but someone should tell the writer that the "it was all a dream" conceit is a frustrating premise
- the game embraces overtly horror-based elements to portray what is effectively a psychological battle within the character's mind. this method of storytelling clashes with the minimalist nature of the script, but also has the strange effect of cheapening the scares; after all, they don't exist.
+ there is one enemy type that rushes the protagonist, which can only be beaten by leaving the room as soon as you enter it. while this feels like a great way of portraying how obsessive-compulsive behavior is rationalized in a sufferer's mind, this method of portraying an aspect of mental health is only somewhat noticeable to people who have some theoretical understanding of it. so it will sadly fly over the heads of most, which is another failure of the game to explore its themes.
it's like a poor man's PT but with the budget for a good artstyle.

I like this game much for it's unusual narrative approach and a surreal dream-like world

Game is like stepping into an artists sketch book after they have had an overdose of benadryl.
took four hours to get all achievements, character runs very slowly which doesnt add to the horror / tension just makes the game annoying.

Watched my husband play this a few times. Now that family sharing is on, I finally get to enjoy this!
Amazing atmosphere, everything comes together for the perfect storm of creepy hellishness. Almost poo'd myself a few times!
