Best indie horror game EVER! Feels like an 80s slasher movie, from the music to the story itself.

Game contains animal harm. Though that's not why I'm recommending it - just a mention.
A very short game that feels like it's trying to simulate an oldschool slasher, taking inspiration from the likes of Nightmare on Elm Street, Scream, Halloween, et al, and does it really well in a platformer-style game that might also be trying to imitate games of old as well.
I wouldn't say it's a particularly scary game. There was at least one mild jumpscare near the start though. Outside of that, the horror stuff seems mostly about theming.
Unfortunatly though, the game does have a few negatives. None of them are particularly agregious, mostly to do with telegraphing attacks of the end boss, or knowing what to expect with a new enemy. A lot of them are a 'ok, that's what's happening' and aren't so bad. The end boss however has you sit through the opening cutsecne every time you die.
While I think there is some enjoyment in playing games designed to ape older styles, there are elements that do need to be left in the past, and checkpoints prior to cutscenes is one of them.
Though it's still 100%able in 3 hours and I was left satisfied.

6/10 A decent short 2D pixel style horror game that has a mix of Friday the 13th, Halloween, Terrifier, Nightmare on Elm Street, Alien and probably others I did not catch.

Wow. What a great game. I'm impressed.
Although the game is very short, it's an amazing little journey that will capture the heart of every slasher and horror fan. Especially now, with the hype around movies like Terrifier, this game really hits the spot. Considering it's "just" a 2D pixel art game, it's absolutely gorgeous and still manages to be a graphic gore fest. You won't get revolutionary gameplay, but you will get a cozy little slasher experience. I can't recommend it enough.
I really hope this game gets a sequel—I want and NEED more Terror at Oakheart.

Recommending this game because the vibes are really neat and the art is fun. If you like retro pixel art and slashers you'll enjoy this a lot. The characters are fun and the monster designs are really neat, and the general plot is pretty interesting.
My cons to this are that the game play is rather repetitive ( walk left/right, pick something up, make something ) + the last chapter is pretty obnoxious. The enemy fights are simple shoot-to-kills but they're very clunky + drawn out and it sends you to the very beginning of the first monster room if you die. I'll finish this game at some point but I got pretty fed up with how much of a clunker it became.
Still recommending it as something to grab on sale / bundled because I think otherwise it's a neat experience.
