You guys simply look like haters at this point. As it was stated, this “game” is just a prologue to something bigger. There's actually some lore behind it, and you may look for it in the animation series that is coming out right now (check for the first episode here) https://youtu.be/PRQeJv9xUJA?si=A0rmwwasDRkumv6j
Just give it try, it feels like it was influenced by ENA-style vibe, which also was originally inspired by Pablo Picasso's painting. There must be some fans of it!
This world is already a cruel place, so don't be “that guy”. This project is being made by a single person who is just starting their way into the game dev and media in general. I know them personally, so I can tell you that they have some picture in mind of what they want to do. Show some support and interest, if you mind, and we may witness a birth of something more than a something-15-minute-point-and-click-game.
The reason behind the cost of the game is very simple. Creator's resources are limited, therefore they just wanted to cover up the cost of publishing the game on the platform. It's not some greed or megalomania. Why, I understand that marketing-wise it wasn't the best decision to promoting a game.
So yeah, buy it if you want and give it a try. Maybe, do it even after watching the first episode.
