Update Feb 12 2025: I'm really starting to like this game now. I beat the game like 4 times now and I have all the collectables and I'm glad that it lets you keep your upgrades. I love the glory kills, it kinda reminds me of Doom Eternal except they call it executions. The difficulty is challenging but with patience you can win. I do love the cell shaded graphics. Even though I still feel like this was just a cash grab I will only recommend to those who like anything Ninja Gaiden even if you are not playing as him. The story tone has crude humor similar to House of the dead Overkill. It also gives me grind-house vibes. Not saying that is a bad thing but when you look at the franchise it represents this sticks out like a sore thumb for better or worse. I'd say get it on sale. The games playthrough is short unless you really want to unlock everything.

last half of the game and last boss suck all the fun out anything you accomplish in the first half.

The only game of this absurdly overrated franchise that is fun and worth playing. Finally a good main character unlike this faceless excuse of a protagonist Ryu.

its... fine? The game is a serviceable hack n slash from days of old. Stylistically, its great, the story is just there. I only played on hard and the difficulty seems perfect (I play games welcoming death to learn and exploit patterns, so im sure if you just wanna mash buttons there is a difficulty for you, since hard is manageable). My main issue is the load times. A game this old should not have 40 second load times just to reload a room that you died in. Which makes death incredibly punishing and more annoying than fun. its a solid 6/10 ignoring that issue, but for my tastes, i couldnt finish the game, because dying felt so bad, and easier modes wouldnt punish me for poor play. But since it is competently made and can be found for like 3 bucks, i can still recommend it. Its not poorly designed. Just poorly made. And there can be space for that with some gamers

I get it, the game came out when the 360 was big. a cool hack and slash ninja game, killing zombies who could really ask for more? It even has some crude humor. Dude when i die like 6 times a mission because the enemy decides to stop flinching to retaliate or the moves they tell you to use against the for don't work I have issues. there is no extra damage or lvling to increase damage. Alot of the the optimal strategy here is hit it with your fist or sword for like 3 hits then dash away then dash in to do it again till the boss is dead I made it about little more then halfway through the game when i just stopped, everything became a sponge that takes more hits to kill you die in like 4 to 5 hits maybe more if your lucky. The camera angle does make it super hard to see anything and your guards or parries tend to come out a little too late if you finished dashing in. alot of the punishment here is if you play it like a hack and slash but you kind of have to because you have like 4 to 6 special zombies on you at times so im trying to bate out a parry from one enemy to get smacked or blown up by another and you have the enemies that dont attack but put an aoe around them that they just stand in so i cant do shit. If your going to make it where i have to be precise about my dodge window and i do little damage can you at least make my combos a bit better or my health upgrades a bit more substantial when i find them if they are going to be rare and not jsut the white of my nails in size. I just disagree with alot of the choices here I dont want to have to train an area of zombies around to bate a parry and punishment for one guy. can you make the punish do more damage or something because all you end up doing with areas that have too much special zombies is keep failing till you get bloodlust and jsut blow through the area. Series is fine, the entry sucks
