Welcome to Kowloon Reviews
This is an indie horror from the first person, in which you find yourself in an area called Kowloon in search of cheap housing. The inhabitants of this place only at first glance seem to be ordinary people, but if we dig deeper, we will see their real faces.

This game scared the bejesus out of me. It's a pretty short game based on the desolution of Kowloon in Hong Kong. The graphics are amazing and the atmosphere you can literally cut with a knife. 10/10

Console: Steam Deck
Price: On sale I think for < $7 USD
Time to beat: Roughly an hour, even if you get a little lost
Pros:
- Great environment and textures, even on low quality
- Atmosphere was legitimately scary though that it was tough not to pause before entering a new space or even going back to a space you've already been
- The jump scares definitely made you jump
- There was a dog and he didn't die. You got to feed him.
Cons:
- Lack of additional QOL settings like medium quality or rate of camera and character movement
- Heavy reliance on jump scares instead of the environment
- The jump scares didn't really make sense when they occurred - felt like they were only there to kinda keep you aware you're still in a horror game
- Antagonist(s) were not developed in any meaningful way
- For what it is, surprising that on the Steam Deck (using CryoUtilities), even on low quality, there were dips around 24FPS.
Conclusion: I would still recommend any fan of horror games give it a go to at least experience the atmosphere and environment, though I would do it whenever it's on sale or potentially free. It's an indie title and games like this come with inherent issues, however it was still a fun experience. I did find myself using a walkthrough, though that was because it was easy to get a little turned around (no HUD or map).
6/10
Thank you for reading and happy gaming.

cool horror game ! killer atmosphere and environment ! wish it was a little longer tho , i really wanted to soak in the ambience you would start to feel somewhere down the middle of the playthrough, but it was too short, also ... a lot of jumpscares, make sure to breath in before you enter any place in the game! goodbye kowloon!
8/10!

Overall Rating: 7/10. Overall good horror game, creepy vibes, weird story line, lots of good jumpscares. Weirdly enough it just wasn't quite scary enough for some reason and some of the jumpscares didn't feel very organic. Overall though a good game that I do recommend, it is definitely scary.

This game is very good overall. Atmosphere 10/10 ; Visuals 8/10 ; Gameplay 6.5/10 ; Horror Elements 5/10. Altough the first 2 jumpscares scared tf out of me, later on the same jumpscare formula got really old and annoying ( The bassboosts are very bad ). Also a nice little touch would have been to leave out the sound alltogheter in the jumpscare sequences. Also, next time you publish a game, take your time in delivering a good story. Overall a 7.5 / 10

I would recommend this game for anyone looking for a short horror game and a quick scare, if you're a horror game fanatic and into deep lore and looking for a thrill then this might not be the game for you, unless you're tolerable to cheap jump scares and obvious spook tactics.
The game itself is well made, there's a lot of walking back and forth and there's not really any difficulty to the game, the only issue I had with it was the sensitivity of the controls in the (singular and very short) chase scene but since i can't guarantee that it wasn't a fault on my end, i won't criticise the game for it.
This game is great for anyone looking to get into horror games and wants an easy entry game with little chasing and easy puzzles.

First of all, this is an indie title, so you'll need to be okay with the limitations that such games come with. If you're not and you can't stand when a game seems cheap - avoid.
For those who are fine with it: It's a walking simulator of about an hour (with one "puzzle" in the game), so you don't see a lot of the (in)famous Walled City.
Is it spooky? Certainly. The atmosphere is pretty incredible, the graphics are cool and you'll have your fair share of jumpscares.
If this were a longer, more fleshed out game with some more things to do, I think it'd be a fairly well recognized title. In theory, the potential would be there.
I liked it and would rate it at something like 3,5 out of 5 due to aforementioned limitations. Horror fans who don't hate jumpscares won't do much wrong by spending those 3€ in a sale for a good hour.

This game is short and sweet, and forces you to explore it's depths. The jump scares are kinda cheap but the graphics are great and make for a very immersive experience. I have a buddy that used to sell dope in Kowloon in the 80s. He sold to what he calls "Hippies" and "The British". But the distinction was never clear in his stories. I showed him this game and when we finished this game he first laughed at me getting motion sickness, then he explained how it wasn't nearly as clean and quiet as this game depicts. At every corner in the game he'd say he saw a corner just like that in Kowloon and there'd either be the staging ground for a fight with a rival dealer, or what he'd call "Grandma running the whores away." He refused to elaborate on that statement. However he did say the game reminded him heavily of his experience of getting chased by cops around Kowloon after getting made and "disposing of possible evidence" by taking all of it. Anyway, would definitely recommend if you have an hour to kill on any given night.

This game gained a spot in my Favorites due to its level design. The game is set in Kowloon which is supposed to be a densely populated city, and you navigate through Mysterious backstreets and cramped alleyways, giving an immersive claustrophobia and isolation and a feeling of being watched constantly.
I would love a version of the game where I can just freely walk around the place and play some lofi music.

Welcome to Kowloon is a short psychological and supernatural horror set in the bowels of Kowloon, where our protagonist has found an apartment to hide out in but didn't expect that in this suburb there would be horrors waiting to awaken him. It's a short game, but it delivers a tense caustrophobic premise with closed walls, camera movements and some cheap jumpscares.
