Ayo why is this pretty good? I am really surprised at the massive amount of meaningful upgrades. Also despite the sheer amount of stuff, it seems to be very well balanced and the difficulty curve scales really well. The meta-progression is something I really like in these games and its deep and well thought-out here. Some minor issues: - Most of the English localisation is poor. I can handle bad grammar but most of the information seems to be straight up wrong and uses incorrect terms. - Controller support is great and it works well but there's no way to access the synergies menu without a mouse as far as I know. Also the extra overlay screen for upgrades is automatically enabled when you use a controller which is pretty annoying. 6/10 as it is now. 7/10 if it had just a bit more love put into it.

Art and writing seem to all be AI nonsense, coupled with the poor translation it didn't give a great first impression. Gameplay itself felt unsatisfying, when I was playing I just felt more inclined to play other similar games. Visually the game just feels like a mess, there's not really a consistent style to it. The first character it makes you play literally looks like a robin/nightwing ripoff, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what they put in the AI prompt. When selecting abilities I didn't feel any sense of strategy at all, nothing did enough damage to warrant a proper strategy or even made me feel like I needed to avoid enemies since everything died so quickly.

Despite some nice character art the gameplay is a bore. Synergies are lame, visual feedback is messy and progression does not compel.

Artifact Seeker is an addictive entry in the bullet heaven shoot 'em up genre that gets a lot right, but has some room for improvement. On the positive side, the game smartly saves your unlocked items and abilities between runs, allowing you to progressively build up your power over time. The difficulty can be finely tuned to your preferences with a wide array of customization options. There is also a great deal of gameplay variety due to the sheer number of different skills, weapon types, and item loadouts you can take into battle. The ability to randomize your starting setup leads to delightfully chaotic scenarios that keep each run feeling fresh. However, the game does have some flaws that hold it back. The English translation is quite poor, with numerous grammatical errors and awkward phrasing that make the story and gameplay descriptions difficult to follow at times. While there is ostensibly a lot of build variety, in practice many of the character loadouts end up feeling too similar without sufficiently distinct playstyles emerging. Perhaps the biggest issue though is the visual clutter during combat, with so many projectiles, explosions, and particle effects happening simultaneously that it becomes hard to track your character, leading to taking unnecessary damage. Overall, Artifact Seeker has an outstanding gameplay loop that makes replaying enjoyable, with tons of customization and a smart progression system within the bullet heaven genre. But the developers need to clean up the translation, find ways to make different character builds feel more unique, and reduce the visual noise during battles. With those improvements, it could become an essential entry in the bullet heaven canon.

I see some mixed reviews here, some praising the game and some trashing it on generic assets/AI. I personally didn't get it because of artwork and whatnot, I was more interested in gameplay mechanics and the variety of combinations you can make. So far, I've played it maybe an hour and I am enjoying it. A couple points i'd like to clear: 1. This is a roguelite game, anything from brotato/vampire survivors, similar idea but the execution is a bit more RPGesque if I may. It adds a different flair beyond the mind numbing relaxing style gameplay of the other survivor games. 2. While it is compared to vampire survivors alot, it is a different type of game in a way that you have way less rng in customizing your builds, each "playthrough" is different but not each fight session you enter necessarily which I find it a bit more refreshing considering how many times I'd have to repeat a scenario on vampire survivors in order to get the ideal weapons sets. 3. Whether AI elements were used or not, the English version needs a bit of polish, it's not terrible, it feels rushed in that aspect but tbh, I'm not here for the RPG, I just want spells and combos to blast. Overall, I'd give it a 8/10 with quite a bit of room for improvement, is it fun? Yes. Is it cheap? Yes. Does it blow some of the AAA+ titles out there out, that's up to you to decide, these games are fairly good for burning time and playing whenever you want which is a bonus already. Ask yourself why you play a survival game like this first. Do you take satisfaction in blowing up hordes of mobs? Do you like Lost Ark? (they use a lot of the generic ability telegraphs in this game which is interesting) Do you like Vampire Survivors? Brotato? Etc... If you answered yes to any of the above then give this game a try, you can't even buy a combo at McDonalds at the price of this game so you aren't really losing much if you don't enjoy it. Disclaimer, give it more than 10 minutes before you give it a verdict, it is a bit overwhelming with the amount of abilities and prompts that show up at the beginning but once you start understanding what they mean and do the game starts taking shape quite rapidly.

So far this game doesn't do anything that other Survivor-likes haven't already done better -- the combat areas are especially clunky because they're so limited on space and look so crowded and messy that it's hard to tell exactly what's going on pretty quickly. Telegraphed attacks are this game's strongest feature since they're so well-designed, but otherwise color choices and such for enemies just make everything look like a blob of indistinct noise.

I wanted to recommend this game and genuinely enjoyed the demo, however; the live build causes my entire pc to shutdown at random points during gameplay. Also, apparently they are utilizing AI generated art assets.

I cannot, in good conscience recommend this game. I'm not sure what the other reviewers are talking about when it comes to localization, but this game's localization is terrible. It makes little to no sense. Which is becoming an all-too-familiar con in games like this. If feels like a rushed job and cash grab. There are, for your hard earned dollars, better games to spend ten bucks on. For this review I'm showing only 1 hour of play, however, nothing has really changed from the demo, except the addition of available characters and a few systems that can be unlocked. - Graphics: It's middling to below average. The game can become cluttered at later levels. Watch out for anything red and you'll be okay. - Game Play: It's a Survivors knockoff. However, it really feels like a knockoff. This is the Vampire Survivors your mom has at home. - Systems: Boring. Nothing really much else to say. The systems in this game are uninspired and not entertaining. Just kinda there. - Price: If you really must have this game, I'd say wait for it to go on sale for $2.99 ~ $3.99 USD I was hoping the full release would clean up the localization and improve the graphics a bit. This game is a reminder why I should stop hoping for improvement. If you're looking at buying this game and don't already own Vampire Survivors, go buy that instead. You won't be sorry.

The UI is bad, the art seems to be generated instead of made by a person, and the gameplay feels SUPER bland. They couldnt even capitalize half the words for some reason.

I'm really mixed on this game. Pros - Run-based with paths, ala Slay the Spire. I don't think I've seen this in a survivorlike yet. I dig it. - Town management. It's not, like, REAL town mgmt, but is presented that way and is to an extent. - You're limited to 6 skill slots, but can replace skills mid-run. So you are not locked into a specific build. But, of course, your new skills will be weak, so it's still prudent to plan builds ahead. - Lots of equipment to accrue during a run, to make it feel more RPG-ish. And ways to customize your gear during runs at campfires. - Keeps a record of your run history. I love this. I have not seen this in a survivorlike and it's a general feature I love in any roguelite/like. It could be presented better, like stats in StS or Griftlands or Have a Nice Death, etc. - Some skills are twin-stick, giving you the choice to make a twin-stick build or traditional one-hand build. But there is also an option to enable autoaim, so even if you go bow/caster build, you can still play one-handed (besides dodging). Cons - Kinda buggy. One town building said it cost 150 gems to unlock, but charged me 300. Unless I misunderstood or mis-saw. Menu navigation w/ controller can get bugged, too. Rebinding controller buttons seems to not work (I have not tested rebinding keybinds). One time a tree path didn't seem to work and I repeated the same event twice in the same spot. And I swear a couple times the game did not register a skill upgrade. - Game does not provide full information on unlocking characters. I.e., it is says the 2nd character requires Castle Rank 2 or progress in some quest. So, when you pay gems to get Castle Rank to 2, you go to unlock the new character and THEN see she also costs 1000 gems to unlock. - Some of the enemy aoe/projectile path tells are inaccurate or misleading. - Gameplay seems...I dunno. Just not as fun as Vampire Survivors, Brotato, or Bounty of One. Some arenas are small and it sometimes feel like it is more about survival than actually enjoying seeing mobs die or feeling any sort of tactical decision making. - Following the above point, there may be possible balance issues as it seems some skills are more OP than others, so your build may determine the fun factor of seeing enemies getting melted or not. One run I maxed out 2 skills and struggled to do damage in the first chapter. Another run, I maxed out a different set of 2 skills and it was like ez mode. - Uhh, "non-original art", I'll say. It seems to be unconfirmed if it's AI art or just purchased assets. Either way, while the art is good, it is quite generic. My principle says to give it a thumbs down just for the supposed AI art. But since it's not confirmed, I'll give it a tepid thumbs up. The production quality and ideas are really strong. But it's ultimately not quite as fun as some other survivorlikes and could clean up some bugs.
