Gameplay upgrade is pretty novel, but the actual Boogeyman itself is such a downgrade. I can't take this seriously anymore when all that comes to my mind is "Spooky Scary Skeletons send shivers down your spine." Jokes aside, ultimately what is bothering me is just the lack of consistency of the design relative to the first two games.
The OG Boogeyman design (the dark colored one with massive teeth) from the first game before the awful revision was genuinely uncanny and eerie. The second game's design, while a bit ridiculous, at least felt consistent and a somewhat intriguing evolution of the OG design.
The skeleton version here is just...boring. And unfortunately a huge part of horror is consistent aesthetic and design.
