A very unique take on tower defense. You start out with very few things, but more buildings unlock on each level, ramping up the fun. I love how you can sell everything and try another setup if you can't get through a wave, like a puzzle game.

Genuinely innovative, interesting, visually pleasing, challenging without being onerous, easily the best game I've found this month. In this delightful twist on the tower defence genre, you're also optimizing a production flow. Cleverly, the things you're optimizing are your bullets ('glimmers'). As a glimmer passes over a powerup, it gets upgraded. You can also position mirrors to make your glimmers bounce around the map. In the demo/tutorial levels, optimizing your glimmers is easy, you make sure they bounce over the path used by the creeps in a way that maximizes their chances of hitting an enemy. It gets tricky pretty quickly - you might want to make sure your glimmer doesn't hit an enemy until it has been upgraded enough. And you might want to consider one upgrade type over another. And the creeps start coming from multiple directions. It's not long before you're constructing complex paths where your glimmers cycle around collecting powerups before they streak gloriously along the paths, obliterating everything in their way. One thing that helps managing this process is that glimmers change in appearance as they power up, becoming brighter as they move around. This process also turns the screen into a light show that you designed. This game is excellent value, and every gamer who enjoys tower defence and factory optimization should have it in their library.

Played this game in early access. Really cool tower defense game and a great concept. I originally received a code for free so I could review the game for my channel on TikTok. I am a huge fan of tower defense games and this one def peaked my interest. It's a really refreshing take on Tower defense games and really makes you think in terms of strategy when placing towers. In my review I said the devs could remove my free code (which they did) so that I can purchase the game (which I did) in order to support their Indie studio. Great game, refreshing concept, and really hard working devs. Def would tell other tower defense fans to buy the game.

More puzzle than tower defence, the game is well presented and works at a core mechanical level. Bonus credit for releasing a demo. My main issues are the campaign is short for the price asked, as I am not interested in endless games, and there are a few quality of life features missing that would make this a stronger recommendation, such as retrying a wave.

An amazing tower defense. It twists the genre with innovative and interesting mechanics. It nails the art style. It stays fun even once the core concepts are well understood.

I'm only one hour in, I'm sure I'll be playing more but I don't wanna forget to leave a review. There are a lot of really good things going for this game, and make it stand out from other tower defense games. Losing a wave only deals 1/5 damage, so it doesn't matter how many enemies get past your defenses. You can sell everything for 100% of its original cost, so if you setup isn't working you can start from scratch, you can rotate and move buildings during a wave, and more. My favorite thing though, is the reflector mechanic. Also, it's grid-based which is nice.

A really nice puzzle game with simple mechanics that really come together and got some rare blood flow to my brain.

This game is fun and challenging at times. I like the creative side of this game : even if you play the level again, it never looks the same because there are so many choices of different layouts. The interesting thing is, if you want to change your layout, you can sell your buildings at their buying price which is great to try things out without worrying (from an experienced overthinker, this is a blessing!). On a side note, i don't usuallly play games with music on but this game's soundtrack is really nice :)

Tl;dr: Anx Defense is a unique tower defense game that feels both like an automation game and a puzzle game. Anx Defense is a unique game in its genre that has a few unique traits and was pretty fun for me to dive in. First of all, Anx Defense separates from other tower defense games considering its pacing. In other tower defense games, the building of towers happens almost in every round at an increasing rate, but in Anx Defense, the most important phase where you build your defenses is just before the first wave. The way you build your defenses in Anx Defense feels like you are completing a puzzle with many correct answers, where certain answers are better than others. The second thing I believe Anx Defense shines in its category is that its interface and towers are crafted in a great way that it feels like you are playing an automation game alongside a tower defense game. The number of towers you can use in levels is not many, but the way the game is built basically allows you to create a projectile line to empower your towers. The whole game is about optimizing your tower layout in every wave, and it resembles automation games. Finally, if you wouldn't say no to a tower defense game that feels like both an automation game and a free puzzle game, I believe you'd enjoy Anx Defense. Also, if you are someone like me who adores tower defense games, Anx Defense is definitely a great title to see something unique.

Anx Defense got me surprisingly invested in a genre which I'm not very familiar with, and it did so in a really fun & interesting way! I think the creative twist on the original tower defense formula will be very compelling for all kinds of players. As a novice, it might be the perfect opportunity to give this type of game a try. And for more seasoned players, this could be a breath of fresh air, giving you new mechanics to play around & challenge yourself with. Overall a highly recommended experience! :)
