Gave me carpal tunnel, but it's worth the relief when you beat it.

As someone who beat Getting Over It 20+ times and on my way to 50, this game is so much worse. Not that it takes more skill, but rather how luck based it can be.
No matter how firm you think your grip is, it can slip any time it wants. Not a single surface in this game can be trusted. Sometimes when you swing and grab an object, it just decides "better luck next time" and not grip at all, even though you palmed the whole thing. The gameplay, as a whole, is just ridiculously inconsistent.
There are pools of water (checkpoints) in this game. Sometimes, however, they are as effective as gasoline against a housefire. In Getting Over It, if you stay cool, calm, collected, reach your hammer out towards the wall and don't make unnecessary moves, you can catch yourself easily somewhere without loosing too much of your progress. In this game, if you fall more than 5 meters, you can't catch yourself on anything, you'll just slide on by. Oh but there's the checkpoint - too bad, you just slid off next to it and maybe the one below will catch you (maybe). Oh, and the saving mechanic likes to play with your nerves as well. I saved my game close to checkpoint 5, went to sleep, got back to it the next day and found myself at checkpoint 3.
After a while, even on my first ever completion, Getting Over It was more like a therapy than a rage game. Sure, I may fall and throw 30 minutes of progress in the bin, but at least I knew that it was my fault. I knew that I could get back up to wherever I was consistently and without much worries. Here, that's just a pipe dream. If Getting Over It was a rage game, this is Purgatory itself. You just keep on trying again and again, if the protagonist will hold on to that damn ledge or just "pet it" and let go. Only to succeed and then fall because that grip ended up slipping when you put a bit too much pressure on it.
If you want to train your nerve control and mouse precision, buy Getting Over It. If you mostly just want to suffer, buy this.

This game is not for the weak.
Very fun imo if you enjoy Foddian-style games, and once you get past the steep learning curve of learning how to swing\jump it's so much fun.
(Don't pay any attention to the negative reviews those people are just bad :p)

Very good game. Long enough to make you appreciate the experience, hard enough for you to suffer, but balanced enough that enough practice and perseverance can get you through it. Very creative parts with lots of variety in its obstacles

This game revolves around a cycle, "Woww this is fun!!" "oh wow this is... woo, fun." "WHY DID THAT JUMP NOT WORK!!!" "I hate this game." "After a month of not playing i'm ready to play it!!" "I hate this game.." "I WON!!" "oh wait i actually fell nevermind i'm uninstalling it." "After a month woww this is fun!!"

I'm usually so bad at games like this, to the point where I just can't finish them. No exceptions here, but I stuck through it. It look me 11 hours over the course of like four days. And when I got stuck, I got STUCK (mountain cave anyone?). I think the key factor in this game that's either gonna make you say it's dumb or genius, is that you're never really given a chance to get used to anything. Most of the harder segments are in super high risk areas so if you fall, that's it for a few minutes. You don't get the luxury of repetition. You get to that part you keep failing at, try to remember what you did wrong last time and do something a bit different. I was genuinely ready to stop at a few points but pushing through resulted in a super satisfying ending.
tldr: the title is accurate. I very much enjoyed the pain though.
