As a fan of Higurashi, If you have played the first 9 games, it would be a crime not to play this one. It feels like a perfect way to conclude this series while encouraging you to continue the When They Cry Series if you haven't already.

Another extra Higurashi release! This one ain't necessary reading by any means, unlike Rei, which includes The Dice Killing Chapter, an absolute introspective pinnacle of Ryukishi's writing. Hou is just a bit of fun. For obsessive story witches, what else is there than to play around in the ocean of fragments? Outbreak is a surprisingly fun scenario, based on a what-if scenario that everyone reading the original chapters must have wondered about. It's also pretty decently written for the most part, ending in a sort-of Higurashi-Umineko-Ciconia melding. Very WTC, very out there, pretty fun. Hinamizawa Bus Stop, Higurashi's prototype, is also suprisingly fun and I could see it working quite well as a short story, or standalone - at least until the infodumps at the end that might leave any non-veterans blinking in confusion. At least it's interesting to know how much of the lore, tone and themes of Higurashi, as well as the larger WTC universe were already there at the outset. Even the cheerful gayness is here! And it's good! Apart from the after-party, which is more or less a bit of developer commentary (as well as some of the more recent word we've heard from Ryukishi), there's another little extra tidbit, but it is cursed to the extreme. Do not fucking read that shit holy hell. Why
