Alright. **Summer Valley Hike** is done and dusted. This one can be firmly placed in the category of "More of the same" as far as the *Hike* series of asset walking simulators go. It's pretty and peaceful, there is a list of landmarks to visit. There are no stories to tell nor streams to cross, etc... On the other hand, the developer does lie in the description. On the other other hand, it's exactly a peaceful little jaunt through the forest. On the other other other hand (Yes, that's four hands. This is a walking simulator. There is no story and there are no interactive parts. The reason why I do recommend this game, is that it is not part of the copy and paste that you get throughout this series and the music and sound effects are also different. This is for a relaxing stroll where your mind can wander. There is also a path to walk on, but you do not have to use it if you don't want to.

This game isn't going to blow you away, however it's pretty much everything they said it was, and that's okay. Its peaceful, the music and ambient woodland sounds are kinda zen, and it's pretty. There's nothing jumping out at you, trying to bite, shoot, stab, chase, or otherwise maim you. It's just a nice walking sim through a peaceful valley. Walking pace is nice, probably around 2.5-3 mph, and you can sprint to about 5 mph. No Stamina bar, so +1 there. You can jump as well, though I never really understood why. I did need to jump to get up the watch tower ladder as there doesn't seem to be any climbing mechanic, so maybe that's why? Still, +1 for jumping. Although the ambient wilderness sounds are nice, maybe adding some of that wildlife would be a nice touch. Perhaps some deer, birds, fox, butterflies, ...something to give it more "life". The maps not "giant", maybe Two hex, three max, which was fine for the time investment. I played for a leisurely half hour (including this review) and managed to find all the POI's. Unfortunately, the POI's were fairly soulless and didn't really tell a story or provide a thought provoking or intriguing narrative, but it gave me something to do while I looked around and circumnavigated the lake. If there are any Easter eggs, I never found them. In summation, it is what it is, and it does that thing fairly well, but don't expect any surprises. I'm hopeful this dev does something a little more ambitious for the next project.
