Dont buy it. You wont be able to play with any friends because all the new start servers are too full and wont let you create a new char. If you have a previous char it can only transfer to a non-new start server and even then only if theres room on the server. Exact same problem Amazon had with the game opening week 1 of release. Amazon support will tell you to eat it and then steam wont let you refund it. Just remember why you quit the first time and don't fall for the misery again just because you want to ride a horse.

Absolute dog****. it adds mounts, moves you a little faster for completing a gauntlet of horribly written side races. (Most you have no idea where the next check point is or God forbid you hit any lag and fail and have to do it again and again and again.) The horse is free (except it's crazy expensive to get different skins for them. Now the second level up is a direwolf, so after completing an absolute butt load of horrible races and sneaking around intense enemies. I finally, after what seemed like an eternity, walk up to accept my prize. They want 25,000 actual coins. Like 10k more then the most expensive house. (For the 2nd tier of mounts!) I'm unbelievably ****ed. This game is such a frustrating mess from one of the greediest company's on the planet. If I pay $30 for dlc and it still costs 2x as much as a house in game money to use a feature in dlc, y'all fu**ing suck.

what a mess. imagine launching the first major expansion for a game that sold almost a million copies on launch with extremely limited player counts per server and not spinning up new servers until players got stuck in 3k+ person queues and then when you do finally launch new servers hours after the expansion goes live you charge players to transfer and offer no way to transfer without waiting hours in a queue to get in the game to do so. Imagine partnering with some of the biggest names on twitch and not anticipating a large influx of new and returning players. On launch day there were 3x more people watching the game on twitch than could even fit on all the currently active servers. The server queues and extremely buggy experience of this expansion killed all motivation to continue trying to give this game a chance. A quick edit after being able to play for a few hours after 1am when the queue finally got to a reasonable number: There's a quest where you have to inspect a pile of animal droppings, players have started to form lines around this quest because the quest objective only spawns once every couple of minutes...this experience of waiting in line to login and then waiting in line to inspect a turd sums up the Rise of The Angry Earth experience at the moment pretty well. Buyer beware, the expansion is non-refundable, would refund if I could.

I just dont understand how this is getting "mostly positive" reviews, it's a $30 mount DLC with 2 hours of content added to a zone that already existed but they overhauled it slightly. the mounts are clunky, there's no new mechanics added to the game, this "DLC" is just content that should have already been there at launch, or at most $5 for this DLC as a "mount addon"

I rarely post reviews but I feel I have to not recommend. First: This is NOT an expansion. This is a paid for patch with limited content. Now that this is out of the way, here is the main issue of why I'm not recommending the "expansion". (Outside of all the other comments you may have read). As a returning player, it is likely that you will play alone and that you won't be able to join your friends. Let me explain. The scenario we have as a returning group of friends, many had their servers merged and moved to another along the way, others had to select a new server for their character as they didn't log in for a while. This means in my scenario: - 4 are on Nysa - 1 is on Asgard - 1 is on Abaton - 3 are on Hercules (the only server they could transfer to) - 2 are on Antares (as Hercules was locked already when they logged in) The options currently are: - Everybody should transfer all together to a new server, but this has a cost, when you just spent 30€ for the "expansion" you do not want to spend a further 15€ to transfer. Lukely some of the players have a free transfer. AGS: - You need to grant free transfer urgently (While I understand you said no on Discord please re-consider - You want to retain player, this is how to make money, not by shady marketing techniques - It might already be too late though as, we are trying to give you another chance here and it might be too late to salvage this

This DLC is a rip-off! Gatekeeping leveling and mounts behind a dlc with a main quest so buggy, bad cutscenes and just boring quests like going through the entire map in mount quests... guys 30 euros is almost the price of the base game! And your game as been a mess since launch, I don't expect free stuff but making me buy a dlc to not miss core features of the game is pushing the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ line!

If you are wondering why the DLC of the original game - New World, has such bad reviews, let me run you down quickly what has happened the last 3 years. -Game releases on September 2021 reaching close to 1 million peek players. -In less than 2 months, the game loses around 70% of the players due to numerous bugs, glitches, gold exploits and so on. -The devs try to handle the bugs, but by doing so they somehow create new ones in the process. -The game loses even more players and cycle continues. -Eventually Brimstone expansion (not DLC) comes out and brings back a lot of people. Almost triple the amount of active players at that time. -Players quickly find that the end game is still the same and there is nothing to play for. -Players also find out that most of the bugs plus additional ones are still in the game. -Numbers start to drop again and it doesn't look good. -The dev team publishes a road map for 2023 which looks promising. Unfortunately they deliver between 5% to 10% from it. -Same old cycle of bugs and glitches repeats for a full year of 2023. -New DLC comes out, but this time is paid one. -Adding some features like artefacts and new mob types, but in general way less content than the previous non-purchase expansion. -December 2023 they avoid a new road map for 2024, due to not being able to deliver on the previous one. -Informing the players that in May 2024 they will have more to share, which technically is 6 months of silence. -In April they delay the announcement to June. -End of May, a teaser video is released which unleashes the rage of the player base, as there is no information in it at all. -June finally comes and the developers announce that the game will be re-released on consoles in its current state. The only new addition to it is a 10 man dungeon and a small PvP island. Now if that is a story you want to be part of, welcome to Aeternum :) And by the way, Aeternum is not a game. That's just the name of the island in which the game lore is located. Don't get confused :)

Game is really good, but these morons deserve down votes for still making quests that only 1 player can loot at a time on a lengthy respawn timer. Years of mmo history but these clowns still do this ♥♥♥♥.

Personally I think this DLC is now overpriced. When the game was rebranded to New World: Aeternum, both the base game and expansion were included in the $60 price. Returning player will have to pay $70 total ($40 base + $30 expansion). Why punish returning players who want to give the game another try? These are the people who believed in the game on launch and were disappointed by the lack of end-game. DLC should be dropped to $20 or even lower to entice those players back now that New World has more end-game content.
